She shrugged her shoulders as she waited for him to decide if he was going to blow her cover or not.

I couldn’t help but say something to them. “Why can I hear what you two are thinking? It’s really freaking me the fuck out.”

The guys were all biting their lips together, so they didn’t laugh. No one wanted to say anything.

Sloane gaped at me, then glared at her lounging mates. “That—” she started, floundering for words before shaking her head. “Actually, I can’t even be mad about that. I didn’t catch it, didn’t feel their minds linked to us at all.”

The vampire wobbled his head around. “I told you I was telling them. I pulled them the moment I saw you blush.”

“That’s a dirty trick,” she marveled. “And I grew up with Lucifer. I should have caught that.”

“What are your goals?” Stone asked us, doing a one-eighty with conversation topics.

“It’s my goal to have a threesome with Trouble and each of you guys.” Zero thought was behind Novak’s answer.

No, that probably wasn’t true. I’d bet money on the fact that he’d been planning that for at least a week, maybe longer.

“Fuck, Novak. You sure know how to sweet talk a lady,” Briggs chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief.

The vampire wasn’t fazed at all. “Tell me it didn’t work,” he shot back, glancing at our mate.

“Then I’d be lying, and I’m trying really hard not to do that,” Lo sassed.

Novak shrugged, holding his hand in her direction. “See what I mean?”

Palmer closed his eyes like he couldn’t handle the vampire anymore. “That’s not what he was asking.”

“He asked for goals, and those are his immediate ones. Next time be more specific,” York countered, grinning at the demon.

“They should know you better by now,” I muttered to Novak

Sloane studied us closely, and I got that same feeling that I did when we first met. It was almost like she was memorizing every word that was being said. She winked when she caught me watching her.

“You guys are exhausting. You know that, right?”

Monday Early Morning

Stone and I split from the guys as they headed back to the palace with the hellhounds. We’d spent the entire night in the cavern talking, telling stories, and laughing. I’d never been on a group date, but that was what it felt like.

I’d had to reassure them a dozen times that Lira and her pack knew the way back, and all they’d have to do was ride. She’d deposit them at the edge of the gardens, safe and sound, then take her pack to the stables to sleep for the day.

I still had a pocket-sized Pete with me if Stone and I were too tired to fly from Lava Falls to Hell.

Our trip to the popular tourist destination was uneventful and blissfully silent as we soaked in the scenery. It was June, and no one visited the falls during the hotter months. They saved this gem for the cooler months, opting to enjoy the natural springs when they weren’t blistering hot and the lava flowed slower.

Lava Falls was a gorgeous sight to behold.

We landed on a cliff's edge bordering one of many mountains, and I skimmed my hand through the lava that lazily ran down the mountainside. The cliff had been carved out by the dragons before they’d left the Underworld.

Dragon’s Bluff was to our left, the luminescent blue water below it shining under the reddish moon. And a large volcano was on our right, smoke billowing from the top, mixing with the fog around us to create a smoky atmosphere.

Smirking at my mate, I tucked my wings in and stripped out of my clothes. Jagged rocks bit into my feet as I moved to the far left edge of our hidden landing spot.

“Kitten,” Stone called, a warning in his voice. “The water might not be that deep.”
