“Thanks, Dad.” Sloane gave him a sad smile, and I wrapped my arms around her, sensing that she didn’t like the subject.

“Alright,” Dom stepped back, giving Blaire space so she could do her part. “I need to at least knick the pads of your thumbs or something. You have to sign this in blood.”

“Awesome,” I drawled, not excited at all about having my finger cut. A large gash down my leg, and I was fine. A tiny cut on my finger, and I wanted to act like a baby. But I wouldn't, even though Blaire was probably going to make it as painful as possible.

After she cut across the pad of Sloane’s right thumb, she turned her beady, evil eyes on me. I released Sloane, tucking my hands under my arms and well out of sight. “Find somewhere else, Blaire. You are not cutting my fingers. You know I hate that shit.”

“Fine,” she agreed far too easily for my liking. She set the knife down and flexed her fingers.

I eyed her cautiously, wondering what she was planning. Then it hit me. Well, she hit me. Right in my fucking nose. Sloane gasped before giggling, trying her best to smoother the sweet sound.

“Bitch,” I bit out, throwing daggers at my sister with my eyes while I pinched the bridge of my nose. “I can’t believe you just punched me.”

“Move your hand,” she advised, enjoying every second of her torture. “I need to hit you again.”

“Fuck off,” I snapped at her, raising the middle finger of the hand I used to staunch the bleeding in testament.

“No. Seriously. You didn’t let me catch the blood and now it's stopped.”

“Just... Ouch.” I turned my head to see Sloane with my hand in hers. She’d just sliced straight across the pad of my thumb while I was fussing at Blaire. The knife was dangling between her left index and middle finger, and she held the chalice with the rest of her hand. With her right hand, she squeezed my thumb, and I watched as three fat drops fell.

“Done,” she told me with a smirk on her gorgeous red lips.

I narrowed my eyes at her, fighting to keep my face as blank as possible. The she-devil had caught me while I was distracted, and I didn’t know if I was happy about that or not. I mean, my fucking finger hurt, but only for a few seconds, so it wasn't that bad. I decided right then; if Blaire kept coming around, those two were going to be more trouble than I could handle.

“Yeah, that’s enough,” Blaire told Sloane. “Now, you two can sign and then we’re done.”

Right. Sign and then we’re done. With the easy part. Signing gave us titles, and those titles came with responsibilities that neither of us had time for at the moment. I knew it needed to happen, Sloane did too. We needed the backup for when shit really hit the fan. That was, if we ever found the angel pushing that drug and fucking our lives up.

As I dipped the pen into our mixed blood and signed my name across the bottom of the document, I knew everything was about to start changing. We had five other destinations to go to in order to build up an army, and three were in different realms. I couldn’t wait for everything to calm down. I wanted to pamper my mate, to show her the world from my point of view. I didn’t want to see her stressed or battered anymore. I wanted to see her happy. Whatever it took.

Sunday Early Afternoon

“Look. All I’m saying is... Hey, Barbie.” Briggs shifted his eyes over my head. “Everything go okay?”

“It went great.” She smiled at us. “Blaire and I are going to go shopping after she drops Dom back off at his car. Anyone want to come with us?”

A chorus of no echoed around the table we were all sitting at. The backyard of Nate’s guest house was immaculate, the space set up to entertain, and I didn’t want to spend the day indoors. We had beers at the ready, Briggs was grilling a late lunch, and none of us intended to go shopping willingly.

“I didn’t think so, but I wanted to at least offer. I'll be back later.” And then she was gone. I loved how simple she was, and had always been, when it came to guy time.

Novak squinted his eyes and tilted his head, listening for their departure. “They’re gone, but Sam and Charlie are coming out.”

Sam and Charlie walked out the back door, more than likely to tell us that they were leaving as well. Sam snatched a beer from the cooler, and we all glanced at each other. Just drinking a beer with the Devil, nothing strange to see here.

“We’re heading out, guys. I wanted to come give my loving son a hug before I left.” Charlie grinned at Jack, and Jack groaned but stepped into the Supreme Alpha’s embrace. When he backed away quickly, Charlie chuckled. “You should come visit us more often. Then maybe I wouldn’t feel the need to embarrass you when I do get to see you.”

“You’d only embarrass me more often and you know it,” Jack grumbled, scrunching his face.

“Love you, Cub,” Charlie confessed. “If an old dog didn’t get to embarrass his kids, then what would he do?”

We all took turns telling the Devil and the Supreme Alpha we’d visit soon and to travel safely. Jack took it one step further, telling the Devil not to drink and drive.

“I'm not driving,” Sam admitted. “He is.” He pointed to Charlie, and we all got to see where Sloane got her eye rolling from. Both Sam and Charlie had rolled their eyes at Jack before leaving us.
