“I was doing the birth control spell before I forgot,” I admitted.

He tilted his head and narrowed his eyes at me as he fisted his length. Gods. His cock was gorgeous. Were pretty dicks even a thing? I’d argue with anyone who said they weren’t. I couldn’t rip my eyes from it, or his piercings. “Good call.” His rough voice held a satisfying sense of approval and a hint of impatience.

I started to tell him that it was a great fucking call, but all that came out of my mouth was a groan. He sank himself into me, each rung of his Jacob's ladder bumping against my walls in juxtaposition to his size. Everything about right now was so different than the quickie in my office at the club or the thrill from our time in the DJ booth. This was sensual and carnal. We weren’t fucking. We were connecting, turning each other into lovers, and damn if I wasn’t loving it.

Every sound that fell from my mouth fueled him further. What started slow and patient quickly morphed to roaming hands and exploring mouths. Each slide of his body against mine sent tingles racing up and down my spine. Words failed us both, only inarticulate noises could be heard over the sound of our dampened flesh meeting over and over.

When my brain finally caught up to what was going on with my body, my mouth connected long enough to beg, “Faster, Novak.” And he happily obliged. Picking up our pace, we moved like we’d been together for years, not days. I writhed beneath him, knowing I was close to the edge of that blissful cliff. “So close,” I whined, scratching at his back to pull him deeper.

Leaning back to lift my hips, he hit the most delicious spot inside me. I rubbed my hands across his muscular thighs, continuing up my sides and across my breasts. He groaned as he watched me. I stopped at my nipples, pinching and pulling, and he slammed into me harder in response. “Fuck,” I moaned, fighting against my tensing muscles.

“Look at me.” His husky command was my undoing. My orgasm was so strong that I was only able to shout his name, garbling all the pleas that flowed free after it. He shuddered above me, a sexy growl tangled in his voice, “Godsdamn, Trouble.” He panted, resting his head on my chest for a minute before he pulled away to examine me. “Looks like you’ve got another mate mark.” He tapped between my breasts with his right index finger, where the brilliance of the new white mark was fading.

Walking his gloriously naked ass across my room to the bathroom, he returned with a washcloth. That was the moment my heart chose to falter. I stood and took it from him to wipe myself off, then tossed it haphazardly toward the bathroom door. Facing the mirror on my wall, I studied the newest addition to my skin. It sort of looked like the number seven, but instead of a straight top, there were two concave swoops. The bottom had a swooping shape, too, and they curved toward the diagonal line that connected them. One tiny dot sat on the top right side of the mark, and another appeared at the bottom right side.

“We’ll have to play I Spy to find yours.” I chuckled to myself, bending to snatch a pair of lacy red panties from the floor where all my clean clothes had been discarded. I may have pointed my ass his way.

Purely by accident, of course.

“I’m gonna need you to stop that.” Novak waved his hand in my general direction as he reclined against the pillows on my bed.

“What?” I asked innocently. “I’m just getting something to wear, and since you threw all my clothes on the floor…” I shrugged my shoulders before slipping the lace up my legs.

“This guy has a mind of his own.” He pointed to his quickly rising friend. “But at least now when I think with my dick, it’s pointed mostly in one direction.”

I laughed at him before catching all of what he’d said. “Who else do you think about?” I asked, narrowing my eyes as I eased under the covers and curled myself around his left side.

Closing his eyes, he mumbled, “Mmm…” He almost nailed the sleepy sound. Almost.

I poked his ribs. “Don’t fake sleep with me, Vampire.”

He chuckled softly and kissed the top of my head. “You need to rest. You’ve had none since all that healing you did, and I’m content enough to just lay here and hold you while you do it.”

I huffed at him. “You didn’t answer my question.” He was right, though. I was exhausted. Two or three hours of something resembling sleep would do me a world of good. I was also enjoying the feel of his arms around me and his emotions pulsating through our sealed bond. He was content, and he was happy. There was also some curiosity there, but I didn’t think that was from him. I could worry about learning how to separate my mates’ feelings in a couple of hours.

Right now?

Everything was perfect, and I just wanted to stay like this for a little longer.

I cuddled up closer to him as my closed eyes grew heavy. I felt his words reverberate through his chest more than I actually heard them. “I’ll tell you when you wake up.” He was still tiptoeing around answering my question, but I was honestly too tired to say anything back to him.

Thursday Morning

Something was different. I didn’t know what, but there was something somewhere in this house that was off. Being the curious creature that I was, I couldn’t resist investigating. That meant dragging myself out of the comfort of my bed, getting dressed, and accepting that we would be on the move again.

I’d been on planes and in cars too many times in the last two weeks. I didn’t care very much for vacations. Work-related traveling was awful. I hated flying on a plane. Driving long distances was akin to torture. I had wings for Devil’s sake. The one thing that I missed about the Underworld was being able to fly wherever I wanted. I wouldn’t complain, though. My travel companions could be worse.

I rushed through my morning routine, dread and enthusiasm battling within me. It was unusual, but a welcome change to my normal Thursdays. There were no patients today. No gloves, masks, or elevator music playing over every speaker in the dental practice I owned. I didn’t know what to do with myself.

Making my way down the stairs and past the empty rooms of the house, I followed the sound of Sloane’s voice. “I hate flying,” she whined to one of the guys. “Can’t we just teleport?” I stopped a few steps away from the kitchen entrance to listen before I walked into the middle of their conversation.

“I guess we could...” Briggs sounded uncertain.

“Ye do know, eventually, we’ll have ta go across seas, and we’ll have ta fly ta do that, right?” Palmer was amused.
