“Not really. I’mma help you, but I really don’t give a fuck about adding anything else to my plate. I basically have a family now,” I affirmed.

“Nigga, you barely know them people,” Stepp laughed.

“Aye, you have always been the one preaching that family is what you make it? That’s my family, and those are my jits. I claimed them, so they’re mine.”

“If you say so. It’s going to take at least a year with you and Khaleesi for me to believe y’all can make it.”

“I can show you better than I can tell you.” I waved Stepp off.

We drove towards Bears, and I called Khaleesi.

“Hello,” her voice came through the phone.

“Hey, beautiful. I’m about to send you an address. Meet me at the lounge. I want to show you the lounge we went in on. You might be able to help us with some ideas for rearranging the place.”

“Okay. I was just walking out of the door to head home. Send me the address now.”

“I just sent it. Can you grab a stack of my business cards off the desk in my office?” I requested.

“Okay. I’ll see you soon, handsome.”

We ended the call, and Stepp passed me his phone. “Send Amill the address too. She’ll be talking shit if one of the other ladies sees the lounge before her.”

I took his phone and invited Amill. We could make it a family day.

Stepp pulled into one of the first empty spots. The lounge didn’t open for another hour, and the employees parked around back, so the parking lot was dead. Amill zoomed into the lot first, top down in her Benz, hair blowing in the breeze. She was a Barbie doll if I’d ever seen one. Stepp rushed to open her door and helped her out like one too. Amill grinned, staring up at the new sign. It was pink, her favorite color, and I let it rock. Stepp owed me a few favors for that shit.

Amill clearly loved the sign, the way she showed all her teeth and fell into Stepp. I had to turn my head when they started swapping spit.

A few minutes later, Khaleesi eased into the parking spot next to us. I helped her out of the truck and pecked her lips.

“You look like you got some good sleep,” I noted, my hands on her waist.

“It would’ve been better if I wasn’t sleeping alone,” she poked out her bottom lip.

I nipped her lip and sucked it into my mouth. She emitted a low giggle and fell into me.

“Come on, so I can show you the place. The previous owner is in there now, telling the team that he is no longer the owner and we will be taking over.”

“Okay, I’m excited. This is the perfect area. You can do so much with themed nights, and other things to bring people in with the right person in the kitchen and great service providers,” Khaleesi chirped.

“Damn, we might need to make you a business partner. You got more ideas than both of us put together,” I suggested, waving Stepp over. “Khaleesi already has some good ideas. We are going to make her a part owner too since she’s sharing ideas.”

“You don’t have to do that,” Khaleesi declined. “I just want to see y’all win.”

“It’s already done. I just need your signature on the line.” I pecked her lips to end the conversation. “You grabbed the cards?”

“Yes, here you go.” She handed me a sleek black box.

“This is exciting,” Amill bubbled, wrapping her arm over Khaleesi’s shoulder.

We shuffled inside the lounge. All of the lights were on, and it smelled like cleaning products and lavender. Calvin took pride in his lounge, which made the transition seamless. We didn’t have to repair and update a bunch of shit; a few upgrades and a firing would get the ball rolling.

The meeting was set up with Calvin’s back to us, but his employees saw us enter. Calvin turned around to greet us with a smile.

“Perfect timing,” he noted, turning back to his team. “These are the owners I mentioned earlier. Xain and Steffon will take over at the end of the month. They promised not to make too many changes, and I vouched for each and every one of you, so they agreed to keep everyone on. Well, almost everyone. Does anyone have any other questions?”

A chorus of “no’s” sounded off, and I stepped up and passed everyone a business card.
