I was here first. If you want Talia’s attention, wait for your turn.
The words are on the tip of my tongue, but before I can speak them out loud, Mack drops one hell of a bombshell.
“I was thinking about something. Things are really stressful right now. The season is in full swing, the scouts are watching us closely, and that’s without even taking into account Talia’s situation. We should focus on what matters and avoid any unnecessary distractions.”
That gets Talia’s attention too. She turns around to face Mack, but doesn’t climb off my lap. Her back is almost flush with my front, and I grab hold of her hips to keep her there.
“Macklin, if I’m a distraction, I don’t have to stay here. I can make some phone calls around town and see if anyone has a room or a couch I can crush on. My parents know literally everyone in Star Cove. Let me see what I can do.”
“Baby, what are you talking about? I thought Becks and I were clear that we want you here. With us,” Mack says.
Good. Because if he were trying to get Talia to move out, I would absolutely veto it. “Then what are you talking about?” I bite out. “What’s messing with your focus?” I don’t blame Talia for thinking he meant it was her presence. For as much as Gen thrives on drama, her biggest complaint when she was with my brother was that his focus was totally on hockey.
Mack runs a hand through his hair, frustrated. “I was talking about this competition between us, to get Talia to choose. Last night opened my eyes that right now we need to think about winning games and impressing scouts, not fight each other over the woman we love. And we should find a way to make sure that Talia doesn’t end up expelled because of Gen’s actions. We need to work together rather than waste time and energy on getting Talia to choose. When we sign pro contracts, we’ll end up in different places anyway. I guess we can wait until then to see who Talia wants to be with. I say we keep things between us the way they are until then and work on everything else.”
I don’t hate the idea. “I’m in if Talia agrees. What do you say, pretty girl?”
“Ok. Right now I wouldn’t be able to choose, anyway. I love you both so much and just the idea of breaking up with one of you is even worse than being expelled.”
Mack leans down to cup her jaw. “Are you sure you’re against me and Becks taking care of Victor the same way we would with any asshole on the ice? He can’t take his dick out on innocent students if that dick is shoved down his throat or ass.”
“Macklin,” Talia scolds him. “We talked about this. I’m already worried that if I get expelled, the scandal could hurt you and Becks. Please don’t get into trouble on my account.”
He leans closer, his nose touching hers. “I’m already in trouble, baby. I was in trouble the second I saw you for the first time and I couldn’t help but want you. I knew you were perfect for me even before I really knew you, Talia. There is nothing that matters more than you do to me. And there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to make you happy and keep you safe. Even if it cost me my career. Hockey is my life, but it won’t be forever. You? You’re my forever if you’ll have me.”
It isn’t lost on me how Mack issued gruesome death threats and a romantic love declaration in the same breath.
But he couldn’t have said it better. “I’m with him on this, pretty girl. I love you, and if anyone hurts you, they’ll have me to deal with. And Mack.”
“Oh, guys. I love you too. Both of you. So much. I would do anything for you too, I—”
Mack silences her with a kiss. As Talia melts against his mouth, a strange feeling takes hold of me, so intense that it overwhelms me.
For the first time since I can remember, I’m not jealous of my brother. I don’t feel the need to catch up to him or be equal because I believe Talia when she says that she loves us both. But it goes even deeper than that. I’ve always loved Mack despite our constant rivalry, but right now? I understand the way he feels about our girl because I feel the same way. And that feeling is like athletic tape binding us tightly together. I love him more because of the feelings we both share for her.
As their kiss deepens, I move Talia’s long blonde hair away from her shoulder, pulling away the fabric of her t-shirt to kiss the spot on her neck that I know drives her crazy.
She moans when I suck on her soft, silky skin and breaks the kiss with Mack to turn around in my lap so that she’s facing me.
“Becks,” she whispers and crushes my lips with hers.
The kiss is hot and bruising, and I want more. So much more.
My hands find their way under the hem of her t-shirt. I grab her tits, rubbing the pads of my thumbs over the achy points of her nipples.
Her straddling position allows her to grind her hips right where I want her, and I’m so hard that it almost hurts.
“Fuck, you two are so hot together.” Mack growls, standing behind her.
“Oh my God,” Talia whimpers against my mouth.
Mack is glued to her back, with his hand between her legs, under the oversized t-shirt. “She’s so fucking wet for us, Becks. What do you want, huh, baby? Do you want me to carry you to bed so Becks and I can make you come until you beg us to stop, or shall we fuck you out here, on the deck?”
My mind is on overdrive as I picture all the things I want to do to her and with her. “Yes, pretty girl.” I growl. “Do you want to go back inside?”
But Talia’s answer never comes.
“What the fuck are you doing to my sister?”
