“Shoot.”
“Was Gen lying about seeing you kissing Becks?”
“She wasn’t lying.”
I explain the situation to her, and for the first time in the twenty-two years I’ve known Sam, I think my best friend is speechless.
But it doesn’t last long. “Holy shit. You’re a fucking goddess. Dating the two hottest men on campus like you are? I want to be you when I grow up.”
“Shut up,” I giggle. “They want me to choose between them, and I don’t know how to do that.”
“That’s a nice problem to have, if you ask me. Just keep dating them both and eventually you’ll know which one is the one. If you want my opinion, I’d go for Becks. There’s something about the quiet and brooding guys that intrigues me. I bet he’s a freak in bed.”
I’m about to tell Sam to shut up again, but as if summoned by her saying his name, Becks knocks on the bedroom door.
“Hey pretty girl,” his blue eyes rove over me. I’m still wearing Macklin’s t-shirt from last night and nothing else. “We made breakfast. Come to eat before it gets cold.”
“Hey Becks,” Sam hollers from her end of the line. “Thanks for taking care of my girl.”
The sides of Becks’s eyes crease when he smiles. “Any time.”
My boyfriend waits for me as I say goodbye to Sam. “Come on,” he calls out. “Mack and I made waffles.”
My stomach rumbles again at the mention of food. “I hope you made a lot because I’m starving.” I tease, letting him pull me against his side.
“I triple dog dare you to eat more than two,” he chuckles right back. “You eat like a little bird.”
“I really don’t.” I’m not one of those women who could live on salads with dressing on the side. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I love food too much not to enjoy it. “Maybe compared to you and Macklin. There’s no way I could ever eat as much as you guys. If I can eat two totally depends on how big these waffles are. But do you really want me to shave my head if I can’t?”
Becks looks confused. “Why would I want you to shave your gorgeous hair?”
“Because you triple dog dared me. That’s what the loser has to do.”
His blue eyes widened. “Oh, shit. I didn’t know that. I thought it was just something you said when you dared someone.” He pulls me to his side and walks me out onto the deck. “In that case, I just dare you. A single dare.”
I love the feeling of Becks’s arm around me. “Fine. And what’s the penalty if I lose?”
“You spend the rest of the day in bed with me. Just the two of us.”
Becks
Talia stops just shy of stepping out onto the deck. She pulls away from me, and for a second, I think I said something wrong.
Instead, she surrounds my neck with her arms, rubbing the front of her hot body against me. “If you want to spend the whole day in bed with me, all you have to do is say so. You don’t need to dare me.”
Her lips are so close to mine that my brain short-circuits. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” she whispers. “I would spend a whole week in bed with you if we didn’t have classes, and my job, and hockey.”
“That sounds like a dream. I wish I could call in sick, but Coach would come to hunt me down unless we left the county. Maybe even the state.”
Talia nips at my bottom lip, then sucks it into her mouth to soothe the sting she just caused. “You’re right about that. Tucker has been playing for Coach Harrison for five years now, and that man is the only person he’s truly terrified of.”
“What are we talking about?” Mack chimes in. “You guys can talk outside while we eat. Cold waffles suck.”
Talia winks at me before releasing me to push on the tips of her toes to kiss Mack. “Nothing. Just some plans Becks and I were trying to make. But we can talk about it later. I’m starving. Oh my God,” she gasps when she sees the feast Mack and I have been preparing since we came home from our morning practice. “This looks amazing.”
My brother helps her into her chair and begins making her a plate piled high with waffles, eggs, bacon, and sausages.
