Zaire comes in next, looking larger than life in the club rooms. How did he know to come here? How did he get past the club?

“Zaire?” I whimper.

“I’m here, baby. I’m here.”

He wraps massive arms around me, but then I catch sight of another person. My eyes blow wide open, and I struggle free, leaping to Jace, yanking him inside and shoving him up against a wall.

“You’re a cop. What are you doing here?”

“I’m your alpha first.”

I stare up at him. “What?”

“If I have to choose, I’m your alpha first. I can find another job.”

Tears well in my eyes, and I swipe them away. “I’m emotional, ignore me.”

“I could never,” Jace whispers.

But then, there’s more movement. I don’t know who I expect, but even though I hope it’s him, I don’t expect it to be him, not until he steps into the room, looking, for the first time since I've seen him, unsure.

“Clint?”

He stares at me. “You’re in heat, Omega. Terrible timing.”

“You came back?”

“I was on the way, Holly’s girlfriend dumped her and turned into a crazy stalker. She made it so I couldn’t get back or call. I’ll explain later.”

“You left me,” I say with so much pain. “You rejected our matching.”

“I was an idiot. I left so that you didn’t leave me. And you still left, and I did exactly what would have happened, anyway. I came after you. Because I was always going to come after you. I just needed a moment to stop thinking with fear and start using my head.”

“And you are using your head now?”

“Omega,” Clint says clearly. “I adore you, I worship you. Of course, I was coming back, we missed each other by minutes. I am sorry I hurt you, and I’m sorry I didn’t trust or have faith in you.”

I step towards him, stuck on the minutes part of what he said. “Minutes?”

“Literally minutes. Then we all went and had emotional breakdowns after you rode off with a whole platoon of bikers. Then we decided that not even an army of them was going to stop us from coming back to you.”

I spring at him, climbing him and wrapping myself around him like I'm a koala.

Our mouths collide, and then the heat is ripping through me.

“Alpha, please. Oh, it hurts.” I cry and lose strength in my arms and legs to hold me up.

Clint catches me and takes me to the bed.

“Is this your nest?”

I wail. “No! I hate it. I want Felix’s nest.”

Felix goes still. “We can have it next time.”

I shake my head, but then a hot mouth is on my throat. I arch my neck, giving them more space. My nipples tighten, my core clenches, I arch against the weight, moaning low and deep in my throat.

“Fuck,” I hear someone whisper.
