“Any idea when he’s returning?”
The guys don’t know my father is Gabriel. He’s just an anonymous figurehead who created The Wild Angels. They’ve met my father, but his secret remains.
Ghost sighs. “I’m guessing this will be all over the news by lunchtime. Hollywood producer kills himself. Foul play has not been ruled out.”
He fires up his Harley. “I should get to work. I’ll keep you informed.”
He heads off and Titan nods. “Me too. I’ve got back-to-back boredom with the board all day. Pray for me, guys.”
Once he’s gone, Zac turns to Havoc. “Fancy some breakfast? There’s a great place opened overlooking the ocean. I may build a house next door and want to check the surroundings out.”
Havoc is never known to turn down a free invitation to breakfast and grins. “You up for that, Angel?”
“No.” My eyes gleam and he raises his eyes.
“What are you planning?”
“Somebody should tell Sophie about Sam.”
“Fuck, man!”
They both groan and Havoc snarls, “You got a death wish? What if she recognizes you? You would be in deep shit if she did.”
“I have my reasons.”
“You still don’t trust her then.” Havoc sighs. “Good luck, man. I wouldn’t want to be you if she finds out you’ve been playing her.”
I shrug, firing up my Harley. “She won’t.”
I pull my helmet down over my face and turn my bike in the direction of home. Sophie won’t be traveling to work in the studio car. It’s time to take her for another ride.
CHAPTER 51
SOPHIE
Ican’t believe I’m so late. The alarm never woke me and now I’m running to catch up. To add to my problems, there is a meeting scheduled with my financial advisor regarding renting out my properties and assigning them to my company. He believes it’s important to make my money work for me and in letting out the two homes, it keeps Rosita and Maria in a job. Hopefully, anyway.
I’ve tried so hard to support them through this madness. Assured them both nothing concerning us has changed which is a joke really, because now everything has changed. I’m paying them to maintain homes I no longer live in and yet I can’t pile onto their problems. They need their jobs to survive and just because Rosita’s son turned out to be a stalker, they still have other family members to support.
It’s a nightmare, but I am determined not to add to their problems.
I love my life, though. I can’t believe things turned out so well for me. I feel foolish when I remember what I asked Jason to do. To kill his father even though he wasn’t the one who ended my father’s life. I really should get my facts straight before I head off on a knee jerk reaction based on what I was told.
Thank goodness they set me straight and for some strange reason, it has brought us closer together.
Jason’s father has left to restart his life, and I suppose in a way that is what we are doing now. Everything has now changed and I’m happy with the outcome. Life will be plain sailing from now on.
I head outside—late again—hoping the studio won’t be too angry. There is a read through today and shooting begins next Monday. I’ll be heading off on location in Colorado. I don’t mind that. It’s fun seeing new places, but part of me hates the fact I’ll be away from Jason for a few weeks. He tells me he’ll fly there to visit me. It’s not far in his jet and I can come home when I’m not filming if I’m due a few free days. I suppose we will have to get used to this. My job takes me all over the world and sometimes I can be on the other side of it for several months. But it’s what I do. I love my job and yet I love Jason too.
I brush the problem aside for another time. I’m late as it is and don’t want to add to that.
However, when I head onto the sidewalk, my heart drops when waiting for me is a man I resolved never to be alone with ever again.
A black helmet covers his face, but those god-damned eyes sparkle behind the visor.
I approach with caution, my heart racing, and he hands me a helmet.
“We need to talk.”
