Movement distracts me as one by one my brothers enter, their features disguised under their masks.
I would recognize them in the dark.
They take their seats, and remove their masks and before we begin, I turn to Havoc.
“Sort your shit out, man.”
“What shit?”
“Hailey cornered me at the gala. She asked me to give you a job to keep you from playing with the bad guys.”
The others laugh out loud, nudging him and jeering.
“Fuck!”
He groans. “You have got to be kidding me.”
“I’m not.”
He leans back in his chair. “I’ll sort it.”
“Make sure that you do. I good as told her to go fuck herself.”
The others chuckle as he rolls his eyes. “Thanks, man.”
“Sophie Clere.”
I have their attention, joking pushed firmly aside as I face them with a blank stare.
“I got a text from the gala where she was last seen spinning around the room in Giovanni Corloni’s arms.”
“Typical Sophie.”
Ghost chuckles as I add.
“Does anyone know what she wants?”
The silence is my answer.
“What’s the plan?”
Havoc asks, and I lean back.
“She gets her meeting.”
“Who?”
It’s a good question. I usually designate one of them to retrieve the information. Nobody knows who Angel is, and that’s the way it’s gonna stay. I love the secrecy. I get off on it and I anticipate their surprise when I say with a shrug. “I’ll go.”
“You’ll go.”
Zac laughs softly. “You lucky bastard.”
“I should go.” Havoc interrupts. “I recruited her. She knows my voice. She thinks I’m Angel.”
“All the more reason for me to go then. A little confusion is always amusing.”
“Any intelligence on her other than what we discovered when she started?”
