Moon narrowed her eyes. “Don't you dare.”

“I wasn't going to say anything,” he feigned innocence.

“You were.” Her fingers moved through his hair, and Mayhem's eyes closed automatically. His wolf practically purred. Jesus. If the guys of Silverfang ever saw him like this, he would never hear the end of it, but he didn't care. Moon's fingers kept moving and the night root quieted. His pain eased, and for the first time in hours, his body relaxed. He drifted, not to sleep—not completely. It was just somewhere in between.

Moon stiffened, and Mayhem's eyes opened. Her hand stopped in his hair. “Moon?” There was no response. “Moonlight.”

Chris turned around. “What’s wrong?” Mayhem sat up. Moon's eyes had gone silver, and he knew that she was having a vision.

“Pull over,” Mayhem ordered.

Chrome looked in the mirror. “Why?”

“Now,” Mayhem shouted. Chrome hit the brakes, and the SUV stopped on the shoulder. Tempest's bike slowed ahead.

Moon gasped, and Mayhem grabbed her hand. “Talk to me.”

Her eyes remained unfocused. “Road.”

Chris turned fully in her seat. “What road?”

“The one from your dream,” Moon said.

Christmas went pale. “What about it?”

Moon's breathing quickened. “Don't take the bridge.”

Chris frowned. “What?”

“Don't take the bridge.”

Mayhem squeezed Moon's hand. “Why?”

Her eyes suddenly focused. “Because it's a trap.”

Chrome looked at Chris. “How far to the bridge?”

Chris checked the map. “Maybe forty miles.”

Moon grabbed Mayhem's arm. “No.”

“What else?” he asked.

“They know we're coming,” Moon said.

Tempest knocked on the passenger window, and Chris lowered it. “What happened?”

Moon leaned forward. “The covered bridge is a trap.”

Tempest's expression hardened. “How sure are you?”

Moon didn't hesitate. “Completely.” Mayhem smiled because she had no doubt. Moon made no apologies for her visions. She trusted herself.

Tempest nodded. “Then we avoid it.”

Chris studied the map. “There isn't another road.”

“There's always another road,” Chrome said.
