Christmas smiled slowly, and Moon didn’t like that smile. “Why do I get the feeling that I’m not going to like what you say next?”

Chris crossed her arms over her chest. “Maybe I know where we’re going.”

Tempest frowned. “How?”

Chris looked toward Chrome and then back to Moon. “I’ve been seeing that road in my dreams for months.” Moon stopped breathing, and Chrome went utterly still.

Mayhem whispered, “Well, shit.”

Christmas smiled without humor. “Looks like Moon isn’t the only one who’s been keeping secrets.”

Moon stared at Christmas. “Say that again.”

Chris leaned against the edge of Moon’s desk, arms folded over her Dark Chaos kutte. “I’ve been dreaming about that road for months.” The clinic went silent. Moon could hear Mayhem’s heart monitor behind her. She could hear Tempest’s slow inhale and Chrome shift his weight near the doorway. But mostly, Moon heard her own wolf. She knows.

Moon swallowed. “What happens in the dreams?” Chris looked away, and that alone scared Moon because Christmas didn’t look away from anything. “Chris.”

“I don’t know,” Chris said.

“You just said—” Moon started.

“I said I’ve seen the road. I didn’t say I knew what it meant,” Chris said.

Moon stepped closer. “Tell me everything from your dream.”

Christmas’s gaze snapped back to hers. “You going all doctor on me?”

“No,” Moon said.

“Good,” Chris mumbled.

“I’m going sister on you.” Chris’s expression softened—just slightly.

“That might be worse,” she said.

“It’s definitely worse,” Moon agreed. Mayhem chuckled from the exam table, and Moon pointed at him without looking. “Quiet.”

“Yes, Doc,” he said. Chris almost smiled before she pushed away from the desk.

“It started a few months ago. Maybe four.”

“Before the Capitol Wolves attacked again?” Tempest asked.

“Yeah,” Chris breathed.

“How often did you have the dream?” Moon asked.

“At first? Once every few weeks.”

“And now?” Moon asked.

Chris hesitated. “Every night.” Chrome straightened, and Moon noticed—so did Chris. “Don’t.”

Chrome frowned. “I didn’t say anything.”

“You were about to,” Chris said.

“Was going to ask why you didn’t tell anyone,” Chrome said.
