“Maybe ours does.” Moon stared at him for a long moment, and then she slowly removed her Dark Chaos kutte. Mayhem's wolf surged. She folded it carefully and placed it over the chair, and Mayhem watched her. “Moon,” he breathed.

“Quiet,” she said. His eyebrows rose, and she reached for the hem of his Silverfang kutte.

Mayhem caught her hand. “Wait,” he said.

Moon frowned. “What?” He took off his kutte himself, not because she couldn't, but because he understood what she was doing. He folded it and placed it beside hers. Two kuttes sat side by side. Neither on top nor beneath. They were equal.

Moon looked at them and then at him. “That's what I want.”

His chest tightened. “Two clubs, two lives.” She stepped into him. “And one choice.”

Mayhem's heart slammed against his ribs. “You want me?” he asked.

Moon rolled her eyes. “No, I want Chrome,” she joked.

“Not funny,” he grumbled.

“It’s a little funny,” she said.

He wrapped an arm around her waist and tugged her closer. “Say it.” She knew exactly what he wanted. Moon made him wait anyway.

Her palm settled against his chest. “I choose you, Mayhem.” His wolf howled as Mayhem closed his eyes. Fuck. He hadn't known how badly he needed to hear that from her. Moon chose him.

He opened his eyes. “Say it again.”

Her expression softened. “I choose you.” Mayhem kissed her, slowly. It was nothing like the kiss that they had shared at Black Hollow. There was no poison, no desperation, and no fear. There was only her mouth beneath his because she wanted it there.

Moon's arms wrapped around his neck and Mayhem pulled her closer. The bond warmed between them. It wasn’t demanding. Moon broke the kiss, and Mayhem was breathing as if he had just run a marathon.

Her forehead rested against his. “You felt that?”

“Yeah,” he whispered.

Mayhem smiled. “It’s our bond.” His thumb brushed her cheek. “You sure about this?”

“Yes,” she whispered without hesitation.

“That was fast,” he said. “Are you sure?”

“Don't ruin it,” she said.

“I just need to hear it, Moon,” he whispered.

Moon seemed to understand. Her hands framed his face. “I want you.” Mayhem's wolf surged. “I want the man who drove me insane long before I knew why my wolf watched him every time he walked into a room.”

He smiled. “I knew you were checking me out.”

“Don't interrupt,” she said.

“Yes, ma'am,” he drawled.

“I want the man who nearly died because he refused to let someone hurt me,” she said. His smile disappeared. “I want the man who told me I didn't have to leave my sisters.” Her voice softened. “And I want the idiot who tore his stitches four times.”

“That’s romantic,” he teased, rolling his eyes at her.

“Mayhem.”

“Sorry,” he whispered. “Go on.”
