“How long have you been here in Muscat?” Kane asked as they went down the stairs to the field.
“Almost two weeks.”
“What have you done with your time?”
“I’ve tried to ditch my driver whenever I could, but he’s wily. He has five daughters and the thought of me being out on my own kills him. I’ve only been able to lose him three times,” A.J. smiled.
“And what did you do those three times?”
“Two times I just explored the city, but the third time I had a plan. It was definitely something I couldn’t take Mohammed with me. He would have had a shit-fit.”
“Where’d you go?”
“The Bimmah Sinkhole.”
Kane racked his brain, but she’d thrown him. “What’s that?”
“Well, believe it or not, it’s in Bimmah,” she sent him a sly smile.
“Smartass.”
“I think you like that about me.”
“You’d be right.” He held out his hand so she could take it to jump down onto the field. When she put out her injured hand, he shook his head. “Come on A.J. other hand,” he admonished.
“This doesn’t hurt anymore, it’s nothing. I’m going to take off the bandage tonight.”
“The hell you are,” Kane said. She blew her bangs out of her face and handed him her other hand and jumped down.
“Bossy much?”
“It’s part of the job,” Kane said easily.
“Mine too. That’s going to make the flirty, flirty thing kind of difficult with two people who like being alpha.”
“Is your first aid kit back in your trailer?”
“Yes. But seriously, this is nothing.” When Kane raised his eyebrow, she squinted at him. “Big girl here, remember?”
“Trained medic here. Your palm was blistering just three hours ago. Now why are you pushing this? Would you let one of your people pull this shit?”
“No, I wouldn’t,” she admitted with a sigh. “I just hate it when there is an appearance of weakness. It’s stupid and I need to get over it. What’s more, it hurts, and I could use some aspirin.”
He looked over at the woman walking beside him. Had she just admitted she was wrong that easily? Damn, there was a lot to like.
