If I hear any more crude comments about her, I’ll take out my knife and cause even more of a disturbance.
I head out the back door. Fall is here, my favorite time of the year. I like the way the cold air feels on my skin. I like watching the trees turn bare, stripped of their colors.
I take out my phone, calling my driver.
Pumpkins have been arranged outside of the club, glowing in the dark. I look at the orange faces, the sharp teeth, the menacing eyes. Most people don’t know what real danger looks like. They can only guess.
They don’t realize anger can come in all shapes and sizes. A lot of people walk past it every day, completely oblivious. Evil is good at hiding, at putting on a disguise.
A sign has been posted on the club door, advertising the yearly Halloween event, which Saskia will not be attending.
I pop open the car door when my ride arrives, slipping inside.
“Where’s your woman?”
“On her pole,” I lie, not in the fucking mood. I make that clear by flashing my driver a glare.
It sounds like the story has already found its way online.
I click on my phone, ignoring messages from Gabriel.
I login to my social media account—something I haven’t done for months. A video loads at the top of the feed.
I hold the phone, watching the moment I grab her curvaceous body and claim her as mine. I throw her over my shoulder, her ass high in the air, center frame. This particular news source has been kind enough to blur out a few parts, but as I scroll down, I can see people have created links. Private pages. Subscribe to my newsletter and see the full moon.
That G-string did fucking nothing, and from this angle, she looks naked from the waist down.
I sigh, combing a hand through my hair. The driver picks up on this but knows his place, staying silent.
Why is the news about me?
Why are we not focusing on the pervy bastards who managed to sneak their phones into the club?
City lights roll by as I stare out of the window, frustrated.
Saskia has been rejecting me for weeks. Even after I fucked her, she ran away. I cornered her just now and she still tried running away.
Intimacy must scare her, and yet for thirteen thousand dollars a week, plus all the extras, she’s happy to work for a man she would rather run away from.
She must really need the money.

SASKIA
I slide the key into the lock the following morning, seeing as though I still have the key to Felix’s place.
The diamond chandelier catches the sun as I open the door. I step into hell, bag draped over my arm, and look forward to an interesting day.
The walk from the main door to the kitchen is longer than it needs to be. I forgot to bring my fitness tracker. I may as well count my steps while I’m cleaning around here. I’ll remember to bring it one day.
I dump my bag on the countertop, exhaling a long breath.
After last night’s antics, I’m not entirely sure how to approach Felix. With respect, since he’s doing me a favor?
Perhaps I can take the same approach as before and avoid him at all costs. I’d rather not give this asshole my body a second time.
Footsteps echo through the marble corridor, evenly spaced apart.
