“So, where are we going?” I asked as he drove off.
He rubbed his beard, and that naughty smile came across his face again. “Well…my little gamer girl, what do you think about Player Won?”
My face broke out into a smile at his suggestion. Player Won was a bar arcade in Fishtown that catered to old-school cabinet arcade games and craft beer. I wasn’t that big of a beer drinker, but I loved the suggestion of us getting our game on together. It was the perfect date for my little gamer heart.
“That sounds awesome.”
“I knew you’d like it, my little wood elf princess.”
I paused at his words. I mentioned I played as a wood elf, but Ginge had said those same words. Was I hearing what I wanted to hear? Or was I grasping at straws? Was Logan my gamer friend? It was too weird to be a coincidence.
“You okay?”
I shook my thoughts away. “Yes, let’s do it!”
“Atta girl. Let's get our game on.”
“I could have brought my console over, and we could have played Dragonspire together tonight instead.”
He furrowed his brow. “Oh my God! Why didn’t I think about that? I’m turning around. Let’s go get your console.”
I laughed and put a hand on his arm to stop him. If Logan wasn’t Ginge, I was going to look foolish, but I had a good feeling about this. “Maybe later, Ginge. Let’s get food and drinks and play some old-school video games.”
Chapter Nineteen
LOGAN
A great whooshing sound rang in my ears, and it took me a minute to realize it was my heart beating fast inside my head.
No, she didn’t. She didn’t say what I thought she said. Did Lily know I was GingerPower33?
“I—” I stuttered. I was focusing on driving, so I couldn’t look at her. I was ninety percent sure Lily was FlowerChild183, but I had no clue she suspected I was Ginge.
“Because that’s who you are, right? You’re GingerPower33?” she asked.
“Flower?”
“Yup, that’s me.”
How the fuck did she figure it out? I thought I was going to be the one to make the big announcement.
After circling the block a few times, I found a spot to park the car. I cut the engine and turned to her.
She gave me a sheepish look. “It’s you, isn’t it?”
I nodded. “How did you know?”
“Certain things you said were familiar, and then the other night, you said you were a hockey player. I kept trying to convince myself it wasn’t true, that it was all a coincidence. I still wasn’t sure.”
“What sold it?”
She gave me an annoyed look. “Wood elf princess, really?”
I laughed. “Caught! I was going to make a show of asking you for your gamertag.”
She laughed with me. “Is that why you said for me to get my console?”
I grinned. “Maybe.”
