Elven princess. I wouldn’t have thought anything of that joke if not for the conversation I had with Logan after we had sex. Could it be? Was Logan GingerPower33?

While we waited for the area to load, I searched Logan’s name on my phone. His number was 33. That couldn’t be a coincidence. If Logan was the man I had been playing Dragonspire with since I was a teenager, it made sense. It explained why when I first met him, I felt like I had known him forever and why his voice calmed me. But that couldn’t be right.

When the screen loaded, we started our quest, and I tried to forget all the questions swirling around in my brain. I didn’t want to think too hard about the possibility that Logan was my long-time internet friend. Probably my best friend.

Chapter Seventeen

LOGAN

“Come on, one more drink!” TJ goaded me.

I sighed and put my empty beer bottle down on the bar. TJ was being needy right now. Probably because Noah didn’t come to the bar after the game since when he wasn’t being an absolute beauty on the ice, he was busy planning his wedding.

“Man, get off his dick,” Benny came to my rescue.

“You’re all boring!” TJ exclaimed and took another swig of his beer.

Cally and I shared a look and shook our heads at TJ’s antics. After a week-long road trip, we were back home and had a much-needed home win. I told TJ I’d have one beer at Eileen’s, and then I had to go home.

“I thought the nanny was working out?” Benny asked.

“She is, but I don’t want her to work twenty-four-seven. I owe Lily so much for getting me in touch with Mari.”

At the thought of Lily, I felt a tightening in my pants. Thinking about her made all the memories of our night together flash into my mind.

I couldn’t go there again. She said she was down for some no-strings fun, but I knew how that ended. She was a nice girl, and I didn’t want to hurt her.

“Lily, huh?” Blaise asked with an arched eyebrow.

Cally got a giddy look on his face. “Yeah, that’s the cute blonde, right? She single?”

“She’s my fiancée’s best friend, so you better back off,” Blaise warned the rookie.

I cringed. Blaise’s over-protectiveness of Lily made sense, especially after what she said about her ex.

“Um, excuse you, Blaise. I don’t remember when I asked you to protect my honor,” an annoyed feminine voice said from behind me.

My dick kicked against my zipper at the sound of her voice. I turned around and saw Veronica and Lily standing in front of us. The latter of the two had her hands on her hips and a sour look on her face.

My eyes trailed up Lily’s body, even though I shouldn’t have. She wore a nice dress that fit her perfectly and a blazer over it. Almost as if she was still in work attire.

Blaise gave her a sheepish look. “Sorry, Lil, you know…”

She pinned him with the ‘mom look.’ “Blaise, I’m not looking for an overprotective older brother.”

Veronica went over to Blaise, and I watched as he put a hand over her stomach and kissed her sweetly. Veronica smiled up at him. “Sorry, Lil, he can’t help it. But he’ll stay out of it for now. Right, babe?” Veronica gave him a look that told him he was in trouble, and he nodded.

“Sorry, sweets, can’t turn it off. Ready to go?” Blaise asked Veronica.

She nodded. “Yeah, I want to throw up again, and you all smell.”

Lily let out a loud laugh and shook her head. Veronica and Blaise left shortly after, and I ended up standing with Lily at the bar. Ayden noticed her from behind the bar and brought her a drink.

“I’m surprised to see you here,” I told her.

She sipped on her wine. “I had to shift around my hours because I had a job interview today. I was working late in the office tonight.”

“Ahh.”
