“Say it.”

“I want to ride your fucking cock!” she blurted out.

I chuckled into her neck. I lifted my head up and saw her face red at her outburst. “You’re so cute when you swear.”

She groaned. “BABY!”

“Use your words, Max. I need to hear it.”

“I told you!”

I trailed my lips across her neck, licking and sucking on the spot that got her going. I nipped at her earlobe. “Say it, baby girl. Tell me what you need.”

“I want to ride you until you’re spent. I want to be underneath you. I want you to...to go down on me. Can we go into your bedroom now and stop talking about it?”

I loved when she let go with me in the bedroom, but it was cute that she still got flustered, even when we both knew it was what she wanted.

“Good girl,” I cooed at her as I took her into my bedroom and did exactly that.

I loved this woman so much. Having a girlfriend rocked. It just sucked I traveled so much and had to leave her all the time.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

MAXINE

I nervously tapped my foot and watched the text bubbles come up on my phone. I should be working, but my boyfriend was supposed to get back from the road today, and he said he would bring me lunch after he finished practice. I told him not to, but TJ was picking up sweet gestures from his roommate.

It still amazed me that TJ Desjardins, the guy who asked for my number and never called, ended up being such a caring partner. He might appear like the loud party boy, but deep down, he had a soft gooey center.

He had been great with me these past couple of weeks while I started therapy and worked through my issues. It made him happy I was trying, and it was nice to know I could lean on him when I had a bad session. I noticed the nightmares had lessened since I started talking with my therapist about the things I locked away inside. TJ had been right to push me to talk to a professional, even though I didn’t want to admit it.

A loud clearing of a throat startled me, and I almost dropped my phone.

I cringed when I turned and saw Quinn Wellson standing in front of my cube. Not only was she my boss’s boss but also the GM’s wife. And she caught me slacking off on the job. A job I freaking hated, but not something you wanted to happen at work. I slid my phone to the other end of my desk.

“Hi! Um, what can I do for you?” I asked and fumbled with my words.

She squeezed my shoulder. “Relax, honey. Can I see you in my office?”

Panic coursed through me at those words. What could she possibly want to see me in her office for? If I was getting fired, wouldn’t Rox be with her too? My hands got sweaty, and I wiped them on my pants while my heart beat loudly in my chest. I knew I couldn’t actually hear it in my head; it was just a symptom of the silent anxiety attack.

Crap, I didn’t need this today.

“Is now okay?” Quinn asked.

I swallowed thickly and tried to focus on my breathing.

“Sure,” I choked out.

I got up from my desk and followed her to her office down the hall. I swore all eyes were on me, but I couldn’t tell if that was just my imagination. My heartbeat sounded louder, and it distracted me so much I hadn’t realized I missed the question Quinn asked me. I didn’t even remember sitting in the chair across from her desk.

Crap, this was bad.

“I’m sorry, what?” I asked.

“Debra, the social media manager, is going on maternity leave. I asked Rox if you could help, and she thought you’d be a good fit.”

“She agreed?” I asked. Rox said nothing to me about this.
