BENNY
“Stop breathing down my neck!” a sharp voice snarled and startled me awake.
“What?” I groaned, still half asleep.
I leaned into the soft body beside me, tightening my arm around her waist as I nuzzled into her soft hair. She’d kill me for that, but I pretended I was asleep and enjoyed holding her in my arms.
I was still in disbelief that I'd spent the night with Rox in my bed, but my dick sure wasn’t. I could blame it on morning wood, but having this sexy goddess-like woman in my bed got my blood pumping.
“Benny.”
“Hmm?”
“Will you get that thing away from me?”
“Why, you don't want a repeat?” I whispered into her ear.
She growled and elbowed me in the ribs. “Dick!”
I chuckled into her neck.
“Dude, get off!”
I rolled onto my back, sat up in bed, and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. I didn’t regret the night spent with her, but I wondered if, in the morning light, she regretted what we had done. I never wanted a woman to wake up the next morning and regret sleeping with me. It was why consent and checking in with whoever I was intimate with was important to me.
She ran a hand down her face and laid on her back. “Sorry. I’m not a pleasant person without my coffee.”
“Holy shit, we should check outside,” I joked.
“Why?” she asked.
“To see if the apocalypse has started.”
She punched me in the shoulder and glared up at me.
“Are you okay?” I asked.
She furrowed her brow. “Yes?”
“I mean, are you sore?”
She laughed and brought her forefinger and thumb together. “A little, but I’m okay. It’s sweet of you to check.”
I stretched and pulled my phone out to check the time. I had three missed calls and a bunch of text messages from her brother. My heart beat loudly in my head at the reminder that I had slept with my teammate’s sister. TJ was one of those guys who believed in 'the code.' He couldn’t find out Rox and I had succumbed to our desires.
I scrolled through the text messages.
TJ: Do you know where my sister is?
TJ: My ex Natalie is friends with her and is worried she hasn’t heard from her. Apparently, she had a date tonight?
TJ: Now I’m getting worried.
“Shit.”
“What’s wrong?” Rox asked while she sat up in the bed.
“You need to call your friend Natalie.”
