Nolan stood in the bathroom’s doorway, so I crooked a finger at him. He climbed into the tub and sat across from me. “I think I’m too big for this.”
I laughed. “You’re fine.”
I let him make my boobs nice and shiny while I massaged his neck and shoulders. I fingered the grey hair at his temples. “Did I give you more of these today?” I teased.
He glared. “I’m not that much older than you.”
I kissed him and turned around, so I was sitting in between his legs. Was I smiling because I felt him getting hard against my back? One hundred percent. He wrapped his hands around my waist to rest on my stomach, and he kissed my neck.
“You’re right. This feels nice. I don’t know how to relax,” he said into my ear.
“No kidding!” I teased. “I’m sorry about starting the fight.”
“We need to be better at communicating. I’m sorry, I’ll try to be better for you.”
I leaned my head back, and he kissed me. “Love you.”
He smiled down at me. “Love you too. I understand why you wanted to come up here. It’s nice to get away and not have to worry about anything for a couple of days.”
“And sex!”
He kissed my neck again. “You’re insatiable.”
“I can feel your dick poking me in the back. I don’t see you complaining.”
He laughed into my skin. “Definitely not.”
I laid back into him, and he stroked my hair while I closed my eyes.
“I don’t know how to relax because since my parents died, all I’ve done is make sure my brother was taken care of,” Nolan admitted after a couple of minutes passed. “I have to be the provider for the people I love.”
I turned in his arms and looked into his whiskey-colored eyes. He frowned like it pained him to talk about his doubts. “Nol, you did such an outstanding job with Declan. You guys are doing great with the brewery. I know you can’t help but worry, but all the burden isn’t on your shoulders.”
He sighed.
“Look at me,” I demanded.
He looked up at me, and the doubt on his face crushed me. I wanted to take the burden off his shoulders. Isn’t that what I told him in our wedding vows?
I held his face in my hands. “We’re a team. You don’t shoulder the burden to provide for the baby and me. We’re a family, and whatever happens, we’ll get through it together.”
“I know.”
“Do you? Because you know I’m not quitting my job after the baby comes.”
He nodded.
“You’re not alone,” I reassured him and put a hand on his heart. “I’m here. We’re doing this together, okay grumpy mountain man?”
He smirked at me, and I beamed at the fact that I got him to switch his mood immediately. He tilted his head up and kissed me. “I told you, you’re my light.”
“You know, when my sister told me I should marry you, she said you’re always a grouch when I’m not around. That’s true, isn’t it?”
He nodded. “You make me want to be a better man, but I’m not sure I can.”
“You can, you will,” I said firmly. “You’re gonna be such a good dad.”
“I’ve already got the dad bod,” he joked with a shrug.
