Eventually his thrusts slowed and we were left panting, warm in each other’s arms. The flush on his face was entirely human, his scales and claws having faded, and the tender kiss he pressed to my brow made my stomach flutter.

He sat up on his forearms and scooched down the bed, nudging my thighs open and gazing down at my pussy, a ragged breath escaping him as he watched his come leak out of me.

“One more for me?” he whispered and I raised a brow, not convinced I could even move right now, let alone come again.

One finger pressed into me and curled, the feeling pleasant, and when he lifted it away he showed me the way our come had merged before he sucked the finger into his mouth while I watched, rapt.

“One more,” he begged, his hair mussed and cheeks still pink, and I widened my legs in reply. Two fingers slid into me in a slow glide, the heel of his palm resting on my clit as he pulsed the digits inside me, gently thrusting.

I squirmed, hips instinctively jerking as my sensitive clit throbbed.

Max smiled, stroking into me in a come-hither motion without removing his fingers, hit hand pressing a little harder against my clit. “That’s it, trouble. You’re going to come for me, aren’t you?”

I gasped out a moan and surprised myself, clamping down around his fingers, and Max cooed at me, showering me with praise.

“That’s right, Kier. You’re doing so well. If I sucked your clit right now, do you think you’d soak my face?” There was a curl to his lips that could only be described as devilish. “Because it’s twice now that you’ve squirted all over me and I haven’t been able to drink you down.” His voice transformed into a dark purr and when he crooked his fingers again, I knew he was right. I was going to come for him. But squirt? I wasn’t sure how it had happened the other two times, let alone being able to do it on command.

“It’s okay, baby, you just enjoy. Let me handle the rest.”

Baby. It was new, and combined with all the praise had me gushing around his fingers before he’d finished his sentence.

Max smirked as he lowered his head, looking up at me with his piercing blue eyes before he closed his mouth around my pussy and sucked.

I yelled, a high pitched whine, as he curled his fingers again and hit what had to be my g-spot. My body convulsed and then he was moaning around my clit as my muscles tightened and a rush of liquid flew out of me.

True to his word, Max drank it down, licking me clean with greedy moans from between my thighs as his hips jerked against the bed.

When it eased, he lifted his head and there was a hazy, drugged, look on his face, like he’d drowned in my pussy and his soul had left his body. “You’re the best,” he mumbled, collapsing his face on my inner thigh and my laugh was breathless. I smiled wider when he shifted to one side and I glimpsed the wet patch on the bed from where he’d come again.

“I hope you have spare bedsheets,” I teased, and he lifted his head long enough to shoot me a look of ire.

“I’m an adult man. Of course I have spare bedsheets.” That was a relief, I wasn’t sure Derek had even known what bedsheets were when I met him. Or a bed frame for that matter. “Just give me a moment to catch my breath and then I’ll clean us up and make the bed.”

I hummed, content to do as he said, and reached down to stroke his hair where it fell loose and soft against my skin. “Thank you for the dress,” I said eventually and he laughed.

“You are so very welcome, trouble.”

Chapter Fourteen

Max

I wasn’t sure if Kiernan was staying the night, I’d learned not to presume anything when it came to her.

She was showering now while I changed the bedsheets, her expression when I’d told her I’d owned more than one set playing on my mind. What kind of low-lifes had she dated before me that bedsheets were impressive to her? The bar was in hell.

I fluffed the pillows and stalled out, my brain snagging on what I’d inadvertently let slip. Dated before me.

We weren’t dating. At least, not as far as Kiernan was concerned. Maybe I’d gone into the heat reluctant, scared of the distraction a partner might bring, especially to my career. But I couldn’t live for the past forever and, truthfully, I hadn’t realized how lonely I’d been before her until she’d disappeared from my life for nearly a week.

If Kiernan didn’t want to see me after the heat ended, it was going to fucking suck, but at least all this had shown me I’d been wrong. I had to live my life, even if it wasn’t with her.

The thought of that made my chest grow tight and I took a couple of calming breaths as the shower shut off in the other room.

A moment later, the bathroom door opened and a cloud of steam flowed out along with Kiernan. She stopped short as she took in the re-made bed, the sheets now a warm brown-red that matched the curtains. “You weren’t kidding about cleaning up.”

I raised a brow. “Should I have been?”

“No, I guess I’m just not used to that kind of follow through.”
