Her smile dropped and she mushed my face while I laughed.
“Get out my face, Armias.”
“I’m sorry,” I chuckled, before kissing her. I went in for a peck, but it always ended up being more. Usually she was the one pulling away and telling me to chill, but she slithered her tongue into my mouth and bit my lip.
“Alright,” I pulled away after what had to be a minute of kissing. “We gotta chill or you gon’ have me pull this dress up and fuck you right in this driveway.”
“You do that and our day will be over, so yea, let’s go.”
I closed her door and jogged around to the driver's side. After getting in and starting the truck up, there was a knock at the passenger side window. It was Lourdes’ cousin, Malena. She was the daughter of Granny’s oldest son, which made her a first cousin to Lourdes just like Lyss. She had told me that they grew up close, but drifted apart after high school because Malena had gone all the way to New York for college. It was obvious that the distance hadn’t made things awkward between them though.
“Wassup, cousin?” She asked after rolling the window down.
“Where y’all going?!” She hollered and stumbled. That extra large Daiquiri in her hand explained it all.
“Bitch, you drunk and I’m jealous. Bye.”
“Wait!” Malena laughed while slipping her hand in my window to stop Lourdes from raising it back up. “We need to get together before I go back to New York. We can do something chill if you don’t feel like going anywhere.”
“I’ll let you know when I go back home sometime this weekend, cousin.”
I was texting Phoenix to let them know I was on the way to scoop them up, so I was only half listening to their conversation. My head flew up when she said something about going home. We’d been at my house since the baby shower and no lie, it had been the best week of my life. I wanted her to stay so she’d get comfortable. If she went back home after a week then I wasn’t sure if or when she’d return for an extended period of time.
“You can come over to my house anytime, cousin. Shit, come over tomorrow and help Lo finish organizing Alouri’s closet.”
“Okay, I sure will! I’ll text you tomorrow morning, Lo-Lo.”
“Alright, cousin.”
A few seconds after I pulled off, I glanced at Lourdes whose fingers were moving rapidly on her phone screen.
“What you texting Dream and Denim about?”
“Damn, not you all in my phone.”
“Yea, the same way you be in mine. What y’all talking about? Cause you over there going hard.”
“It’s girl stuff and it don’t have nothing to do with you, sir.”
“Alright. Remember that when you want to know something that doesn't pertain to you.”
“We’re not discussing my business for me to pass it along to you. And you be spilling all the tea to me unprovoked. Please.”
“Whatever,” I smirked. I couldn’t say shit else because she wasn’t lying. “Has Malena been trying to chill with you all week?”
“Yea, she has but I’ve been busy.”
“Doing what?” I laughed. “You’ve been sleeping most of the time and when you woke up it was to eat or fuck.”
Yesterday was the first time she got up and really did something, which was unpacking Alouri’s gifts and organizing them in her room.
“Yea…so like I said I was busy. I didn’t want to invite her over just to be up under you.”
“I left to go handle business multiple times.”
“I guess I didn’t think it was okay to invite anyone to your house while you weren’t there.”
“Well feel free to make yourself at home at my house. Family and friends are always welcomed.”
