She went from concerned to stoic in seconds. “Is it gonna ruin my day? Cause if so, it can wait.”
“You gon’ find out anyway and I’d rather be the one to tell you.”
“Alright,” she sighed. “Let’s go talk in my room.”
“I can say it out in the open because they gon’ find out, too.”
“So it’s some social media shi-I mean, stuff?” Aneesah guessed. I don’t know why she insisted on fronting in front of me like her ass didn’t curse.
“No…” I paused because I knew this was going to agitate her so I was trying to think of the best way to deliver the news. But it didn’t matter how I told her. The reaction was going to be the same, so I just came right out with it. “We gotta move locations for the baby shower because somebody called in a bomb threat.”
“WHAT?!” Everybody exclaimed in disbelief. Even the nameless mua.
“Bitch, I know you lying,” Fendi commented. “That shit not real! Somebody called that in!”
“And I think I know who,” Versace poked her lips out. “She pulled a similar stunt to get my ex-bestfriend's high school graduation party shut down because her nigga was messing around with her.”
“Who, cousin?” Aspen asked.
“Nazaria,” Fendi pursed her lips.
“Wait!” Aneesah jumped up while locating something on her phone. When she found whatever she’d been looking for she walked over to us and showed us her screen.
“I looked right over this when I saw it earlier because it didn’t mean anything then, but now it makes sense. Tell me she’s not hinting at what she did?” Aneesah asked and I had no words because baby sis had put the puzzle together perfectly. Nazaria had posted a selfie of her smiling with her tongue out and she attached the song “You Dropped a Bomb on Me” by The Gap Band. Then she commented “that’ll teach them!” with three bomb emojis. She wasn’t hinting at shit…she was bragging.
“Shit…and I’m over thinking that my cousin had stooped to a new low. The whole time it’s this miserable bitch,” she tried to jerk away from me, but I stood my ground.
“I’m sorry, Lo, but this ain’t gon’ ruin our day.”
“How? I’ve been looking forward to having my baby shower at this venue for months! And how the fuck does this bitch even know where the fuck my babyshower is at?”
That was a great question that I hadn’t even thought of. The first person I thought of was Rahesha, but I didn’t want to believe that. If she did something like that then she wasn’t just worrisome, she was an opp who was capable of anything. I really didn’t want to put my mama in that category. I hated most of her life choices and she got on my nerves daily, but she was still my mama and I never thought I had to watch my back with her.
“Shit, how does she know that it was today?” The MUA asked.
“Fuck,” Lourdes hissed. “I’ve been posting a countdown since September. And I reposted pictures from NOLA SKyline’s page saying I can’t wait to have my baby shower there. My dumb ass leaked my date and my location. Ughhh,” her head flew back and she covered her face.
“Man, cut it out,” I removed her hands from her face and revealed that she was tearing up. “Back up right quick, Fendi.”
She obliged and I got in front of her to wipe the tears that had already started running down her face. This was the reaction I wanted to avoid, but it was inevitable. I bent down to wrap my arms around her and I kissed her all over her face until she started to calm down.
“Don’t cry about this, doll baby. A location change was the last thing we wanted, but all of our vendors are still secured and ready to give us our baby shower.”
“Where though?” She whimpered.
“At my house. You said it was the perfect place to host family gatherings when you first saw it. Consider this a head start,” I smirked.
She cracked a smile. “I don’t feel like joking right now.”
“But it made you laugh, right?” I pecked her lips. “It’s gon’ be okay. I promise. You trust me?”
“Yes, Armias.”
“Good. I’m finna head over to the house now.”
“And me, Aspen, and Neese will be over there, too, as soon as I get my makeup done.”
“I thought you trusted me to oversee everything?”
