“Yea, that’s exactly what you want. You then had a whole maternity shoot and announced our baby without including me at all. I ain’t even know you went and took pictures. Then you made a baby registry and my name not no where on it. Please tell me who the fuck is Baby Craige? Cause ain’t no way my daughter not gon’ have my last name.”
Her mouth was gaped in surprise the whole time I talked. Then she had the audacity to look around as if she didn’t know what the hell I was talking about. A few seconds coasted by before she burst into laughter. That did it for me.
“What the fuck is funny?!”
“Wait, I’m not laughing at you. I swear,” she claimed. Her laughter had ceased but her goofy ass was still smiling from ear to ear. “I’m laughing because I created that registry when we weren’t talking. I thought I was about to be on my own, so at the time I did think our baby was going to have my last name. This whole time I’ve been adding stuff to the registry and I never thought to change those details. It was an oversight, Armias. I’ll change it asap.”
“Alright,” I grumbled because I wasn’t sure if I fully believed her. I was going to let it go though because she was willing to make it right. Had she doubled down on it then we would’ve had an issue. “Now about this maternity photoshoot…”
This time, she copped an attitude. “What about it, Armias?”
“The fuck you getting mad for? You weren't the one left out.”
“Nigga, I’m the one who’s pregnant. I didn’t have to tell you about my pictures.”
“Who’s baby are you carrying? There would be no maternity pictures without me.”
“Arrogant, much?”
“It’s not arrogant to state a cold, hard fact,” I spat. “I think it’s fucked up that I wouldn’t be included like this not my baby, too.”
“It didn’t even cross my mind to include you.”
“Aye, I let you slide the first time when you claimed shit didn’t cross your mind. The way you went about that photoshoot was deliberate though, and you know it.”
She smacked her teeth. “That’s literally what I just said. It didn’t cross my mind because it was something I wanted to do by myself. We’re not together, so I wasn’t gon’ play myself by asking you to be a part of a photoshoot that may have people thinking otherwise.”
“I’m really not concerned with what other people gon’ think. My only concern is my child looking back at these pictures and seeing both of her parents.”
“I think she’ll be okay.”
“What?”
“We’re not together and that’s all she’ll know. It’s not going to hurt her if she looks back at my maternity pictures and she doesn’t see you.”
“We don’t know that though. She might think that I wasn’t excited for her or I didn’t care to be involved in everything. Or what if something happens to one of us? I know how that feels first hand, but I have so many good memories of my dad to look back on.”
“Oh God,” she released an exasperated sigh. “Look, I have another photoshoot scheduled for next weekend. You can get in some of those pictures.”
“Damn, so your extra ass was getting ready to leave me out of two photoshoots?”
“How am I extra?”
“Cause why do you need two photoshoots?”
“I didn’t need anything. It’s what I wanted. The shoot I posted today was something simple and cute to announce my pregnancy. This next photoshoot is going to be more elaborate and they’ll be included in the baby shower decor.”
“And you thought it was going to be cool to leave me out of those? C’mon, Lourdes.”
“Okay…maybe I should’ve thought about including you in that photoshoot. But hey, you’re a part of it now. I’m going to put together an outfit for you.”
“I can dress myself, yea.”
“I know, but I said I’m going to do it,” she asserted, making my dick brick up. “Are you hungry?”
“Hell yea.”
“Good, cause I definitely am,” she grabbed the plates and walked over to the stove.
