“Yeah, I’m guessing he was meeting with the brass and getting his pink slip.”

I didn’t say anything in return. I didn’t really have words, honestly. After everything he’d pulled, it was hard for me to have any sympathy for him.

“Anyway, I’ll let you go. Just wanted you to know.”

“Thanks, man,” I told him. “Do me a favor and let everyone else know you talked to me, so they stop calling and texting.”

He laughed. “Meh… Maybe later.”

I rolled my eyes, and we hung up.

I could have gone back to sleep, but Cora would be home soon, and I wanted to spend that time together.

We ended up eating takeout on her couch, watching bad movies, and having some naked fun time.

Lots of naked fun time.

That night, after celebrating, we lay tangled in the sheets with her head resting on my chest.

“This is nice,” she mumbled, her fingers tracing lazy circles on my skin while I ran my fingers through her hair.

I hummed in agreement. “Nothing better than lying here naked with the woman I love,” I told her and watched to see if my declaration registered with her.

She paused and then tilted her head up to me and stared.

Yeah, she’d heard me.

“I think half of me has loved you since high school,” I told her, pulling her closer and wrapping my arms around her waist. “The other half just needed to catch up…and see you naked.”

She snorted and rolled her eyes at me, but she was also smiling.

“I think I’ve loved part of you since high school, too,” she said softly.

“The part you’re referring to is my dick right?” I teased. “That’s the part you loved the most—because it’s the biggest.”

“You’re incorrigible.” She swatted at me playfully, still laughing.

I loved hearing that sound.

I tightened my arm around her. “Yep, and you’re stuck with me.”

“I can think of worse things,” she said as she rolled on top of me.

Within seconds, we were making out like teenagers before I buried myself inside her and finished the day in the best way possible.

“Stop being impatient,” I chided Frizzle. “I have to open the can of food first.”
