When they docked, they drove through town and headed to Serenity’s. Missy was so anxious to see the building next door and to talk to Crystal.
Serenity’s Attic was the brightest building in town. It was painted bright colors that were changed on a regular basis. When they approached the building, Rory was outside touching up the bright purple front doors.
The shop sat directly along the main street in the center of all the activity, and people pushed past him as he worked.
“Hey,” Cora said, getting his attention.
“There you are.” Rory moved to hug her, but stopped when he realized he was still holding a paintbrush full of paint and was also covered in wet paint. “I’d hug you but…”
“Rain check. Is Crystal inside?”
“Yup, head on in.” He returned to his work.
“God, I love this place. I spent way too much money in here last time I was here.” She grabbed a small basket just inside the door. “Trust me, you’re going to want a basket,” she told her brother, handing him one.
While Max and Missy went shopping, she made her way to the back checkout counter.
“Crystal?” Cora called out as she approached the counter.
“Back here,” a voice called out. Cora followed it to an office space.
Crystal Holley was just as young and beautiful as her daughter Sarah. Her long blonde hair lay over her shoulders in two braids. She wore one of her signature sundresses and a pair of bright yellow reading glasses.
“Cora.” She pulled the glasses off and rushed to hug her. “You’re back.”
“I am.” Cora smiled and hugged her back.
Then Crystal leaned back and ran her eyes over her. “You’re entire aura has changed.” She narrowed her eyes, then she gasped. “Who is he?”
“Who?” Cora asked with a smile.
“The man that has your aura going from purple to indigo.” She laughed when Cora made a face at her. “Blue. It’s a good thing. It means you have peace of mind. Love. Devotion.”
“What did purple mean?” Cora asked, falling into the spell that was Crystal Holley.
“Artistic energy, intelligence.” She touched her arm.
“You talked to Sarah, didn’t you?” Cora asked as they walked out front. Olivia was talking with Missy about some lotions while Max was looking at a pair of swim shorts.
“I talk to my daughter every day. But about you, no.” Crystal’s eyes moved to Max and ran over him.
“What’s his aura?” Cora asked quietly.
Crystal narrowed her eyes and assessed him silently for a moment. Then she tilted her head.
“He’s a mixture of green and indigo. Greener though.” She turned to her. “He’s loyal, love-centered, creative, and compassionate.” She touched her shoulder. “And very compatible with you. The two of you are going to be happy.”
“How is it that more people don’t come to you for this sort of advice?” Cora asked.
Crystal laughed as they made their way to Max.
“Crystal, this is Max Sharpe.” Just then Missy and Olivia made their way towards them. “And his sister Missy.”
Crystal shook both of their hands. “You’re the one Serenity told me about. The one who wants to look at the building next door?”
“I am.” Missy’s smile grew brighter. “I just graduated from Cambridge School of Culinary Arts and want to open my own high-end bakery.”
“How wonderful.” Crystal’s smile brightened. “I’ll just go get my keys for next door.”
