“They’re going to love you,” Lucas said, coming up behind her. His lips brushed the curve of her shoulder, sending a pulse throughout her entire body. “We have a few hours before we’re supposed to meet them. We could… find something fun to occupy our time?” He trailed his hands up and down her sides.

She turned easily into his arms and smiled up at him. “Yes, please.”

Chapter Sixteen

Lucas couldn’t stop himself from wanting Mia. The way she looked at him made him feel… primal. Backing her towards his bed, he yanked at her clothing, needing to feel her skin next to his. Her fingers dug into his skin and when he struggled to remove his shoes, she snapped her fingers and all of his clothes instantly disappeared.

Chuckling, he glanced up at her. “That’s one way of getting me naked, I suppose.” Then he motioned to her remaining clothes. “Care to help me out?”

She smiled and snapped her fingers again, and her own clothes disappeared.

“It pays to be a djinn.” She held out a packet of condoms. “This you’d better put on yourself.”

When they moved to the bed and he covered her, slid into her, and kissed her, he knew that he was home. It didn’t matter which world or realm they were in, just as long as she was with him.

Almost an hour later he stood in the elevator with her as they headed down to the restaurant a few floors down from his penthouse.

“You didn’t tell me your parents live in the same building as you.” She nudged him in the ribs.

“You didn’t ask.” He pulled her body up tight against his. “Besides, I did say they own the building, remember?” He chuckled.

She was wearing a sleek teal dress, this one far more modern than the dresses she’d worn in Atlantis. It clung to her like a second skin and was low cut, showcasing her prefect breasts.

His hand moved slowly up her hip.

“You know, we could always cancel,” he purred next to her ear, and he felt her melting against him.

When she opened her mouth to answer, the elevator doors slid open. His parents stood on the other side, waiting for them.

“Mom, Dad,” he said easily. He took Mia’s hand and stepped out into the restaurant’s waiting area.

“There you are,” his father said with a slight smile.

He’d talked to his parents on the long plane trip home and filled them in on the crazy two weeks he’d been MIA.

Since he’d first discovered his abilities, his parents had done nothing but support him. They knew everything about him and the crazy world hidden from everyone else. Still, they loved him and supported him and had never treated him like anything other than their son.

Since the moment they’d been back, he’d felt an urgency building, much like the one he’d felt when he’d realized Scott was going to release Moros. He couldn’t explain the connection he had with Moros, but there was one. He was coming. And soon.

After introducing Mia to his parents, they were shuffled inside the restaurant, where they were given priority seating, as always.

His parents expected the best of everything. That extended to him and the woman he’d chosen as a mate. Never in all the years that he’d known them had they been pushy about how he lived his life.

When he’d decided to go to school, they’d supported him. When he’d decided to step into the family business, they’d backed him fully.

The moment he’d shown them what he could do, they hadn’t judged. Their only requirement had been to hide what he was from others out of fear that somehow he would be injured.

In all cases, they had been perfect parents.

Even now, while the four of them sat around the dinner table, his parents accepted Mia wholeheartedly.

Within the first few minutes of sitting down for dinner, Mia had his parents eating out of her hands. They were laughing at her jokes and hanging on every word she said as she told them a story about her youth.

When the meal was over, he finally worked up the courage to tell them that they were traveling back to Georgia as soon as possible.

His mother instantly looked worried. His father, oddly, looked proud.

“We know it’s something you have to do, son,” his father said. “We’ll keep things running smooth and work out whatever needs to happen here.” He shook Lucas’s hand.
