“Hey,” he said into her hair. “Talk to me.”

“Lei, he’s… Feng called him Erebus. Darkness. Doom. Feng said he was removed from my family to protect us. My parents, we were told that he was dead. We mourned him.” The words flooded from her. Everything that had happened, how her parents had been told by the elders that Lei had been killed in this realm by a creature when he’d wandered away from the cave during one of their many trips to prepare him to take the djinn powers from their great-uncle Bai.”

Lucas held onto her as she then relayed everything Feng had just told her.

When she finally pulled away from him and took a step away from him, she winced and almost fell on her face. The pain in her thigh had been a dull ache compared to the emotional hurt she was feeling. Now it stung so badly that she couldn’t walk. Thankfully, Lucas lifted her into his arms and rushed inside.

When he laid her down on her bed, her tears of pain blocked her vision. She didn’t care if she was hurt.

Lei was alive. Her brother was alive. Now she was supposed to fight her brother and… what? Kill him?

Lucas moved around the room, gathering clean towels and ripping the pants that she’d changed into for the flight.

When he poured something over the heated skin on her thigh, it stung and she hissed and sat up.

“Here,” she said, holding her hand over the cut. Moments later, the wound closed without a scar.

“You could have told me you could do that.” He sighed and relaxed back.

Wiping the tears from her eyes, she realized just how worried he’d been that she’d been hurt.

“Hey, I’m okay.” She laid her hand on his shoulder.

He sighed and rested his forehead against hers. “I’m sorry about your brother,” he said softly.

She shook her head. “I don’t want to think about that now.” She pulled him down to her lips. “Make me forget everything.”

With one quick swoop of her hand, their clothes disappeared.

Lucas chuckled, then she pulled him down over her as her lips covered his.

“I need,” she groaned. “Fast.” She rushed to straddle him. Her hair fell around his face as she trailed her mouth over him. She wanted to lick every inch of him. To taste his skin.

Lucas remained still while she explored him. His hands moved to her hair, pushing it aside while she lapped at his flat nipples. When they puckered for her, she smiled and moved lower.

“Witch,” he groaned when she traced her tongue over his ribs.

“Nope, I’m a djinn,” she corrected with a chuckle. “Djinn,” she said slowly while she traced her fingers over his length.

The sound Lucas made was close to a growl. “Don’t forget what I am,” he said, jerking when she cupped him. “Hellhounds don’t play games,” he warned.

She chuckled and looked up into his eyes. “I’ll have you playing soon enough, dog.” She took his full length into her mouth, and his hips jerked up as he arched.

“Mia,” he groaned.

“Beg me,” she said as she ran her tongue up his length.

“Please,” he said, jerking under her. Then he gripped her hips and flipped her until she was underneath him.

“You’ll pay for that,” he growled in a low tone as he looked down at her. His eyes glowed gold and heated further when he plunged into her.

This time, she was the one who cried out, begging him.

“Together,” he said, leaning down and covering her mouth with his. “Together,” he said with one finally thrust as her entire world exploded into a million stars.

She would have thought that after the long day that she would sleep like the dead. Instead, she listened to Lucas’s deep breathing and replayed everything that Feng had told her.

Replayed the vision of her brother cast in shadow and standing on the side of the rocky hillside.
