“You taste so good,” she said with relish, shifting so she straddled him, her breasts pressed against his chest, the tips of her erect nipples grazing him through their clothes.

He groaned when she rocked her hips against him.

“You are trouble,” he croaked, pulling his wrist away from her lips. “Enough.”

“Already?” she said, sounding disappointed.

“That is all the blood you need, for now. And I am not yet fully recovered.”

“Oh. Shit, have I taken too much?”

“No. But I don’t have a lot to give right now.”

Kira nodded, licking the last trace of his blood from her lips. “Don’t break the connection,” she pleaded.

Nathaniel tightened his hold on her waist. “I wouldn’t dream of it.” He kissed her, and as her mouth opened, his tongue found hers, the delicate sensation as thrilling as a seductive dance. He grabbed her hips and pulled her close so she would feel his erection.

“I take it you forgive me?” he asked.

“Yes. But I think you could sweeten the deal.”

“I can do that.”

“How?”

“By treating you the way you deserve.”

Chapter 10

The Restaurant

Kira

The taste of Nathaniel’s blood was tantalising. It coated her tongue and mouth, making her fantasise about tasting more of him. She wanted to taste his lips, and she wanted to run her tongue over every inch of him. Her insides burnt for him, and Nathaniel stoked that fire with every soft word, every kiss, every touch, until her entire body was charged with anticipation for what was to come.

It was all so innocent—until it wasn’t.

Her veins pulsed with his words—By treating you the way you deserve.

“And what is it I deserve?” she asked coyly.

“I have something in mind,” he said, running his finger along the angle of her jaw. “Let me show you.”

Kira knew they were entering another of Nathaniel’s memories as blue smoke swirled around them. When it cleared, it was the same starry sky, but she was standing with Nathaniel on a restaurant balcony overlooking a lamplit street. Patrons talked quietly at nearby tables. Nathaniel was wearing the formal attire of a nobleman, whilst she was wearing a red dress with matching heels.

“You look stunning,” he said, kissing her hand.

“Is this another memory?”

“Why, no. It’s a date.” He led her to a candlelit table with two unoccupied chairs.

“A date…?”

Her lip twitched as she caught sight of his coat tails. Before she could stop herself, she said, “You look like a penguin.”

“Is that so?” Nathaniel smiled.

Kira cursed herself for the outburst. Truthfully, he looked dashing in the tailored coat, which had an ornate lapel, sharp padded shoulders, and a dark green capelet. He had pinstripe trousers and polished maroon shoes on. His blond hair was combed back sleekly, and the combined effect made her weak at the knees.
