“You broke into my apartment,” I finally say, his eyes narrowing after the lengthy pause. I need to stay on my toes; I’m well aware of the temper Dylan carries when he’s unhappy with someone, and I don’t trust him one bit knowing he broke in here. If I could reach my phone before Dylan could get ahold of me, I’d call the cops. “You picked the locks, remember?”
“I let myself in since you’re still holding off on giving me a key,” he says, rolling his eyes. I guess he’s choosing to ignore the fact that we broke up weeks ago, way before the party. “Enough wasting time, baby. Lay back.”
Panic builds in my chest again, and I have to take a steadying breath. “You don’t want to check if Lachlan’s here? I mean, you seemed so sure.”
“He’d be in here by now if he was,” Dylan replies with a scoff. He brushes at the dark pieces of hair that fall across his forehead before leaning closer, and for one disturbing moment I think he’ll kiss me.
“You don’t want me right now,” I say, my voice turning squeaky when it goes higher from the nerves. I twist my head to one side so he doesn’t kiss my lips.
Dylan’s just trying to intimidate me, leaning over the bed, and I lean away. Even if I get up, he’s going to still be between me and the doors. The bathroom is behind him, and I’d love it if I could somehow get in there and free Lachlan. I can do it out here, if Dylan waits that long. But I’m not sure it’s going to happen. Either way, it’s becoming more and more obvious that I need to find an excuse to get Lachlan out of his vibration prison as fast as possible.
Dylan sighs and grabs my phone, and maybe he thinks that’s why I was looking at. He casually tosses my phone away, and it lands with a thud someplace behind him. He reaches for his belt, and it looks like those jeans have dried mud on them. “Spread your legs, babe. This won’t take long.”
No, with him, it never does. Deciding that I don’t have any better options, I hold up my free hand and bat my eyes, still clinging to the towel like it can remain a barrier between us when it hardly covers me. “Why don’t you let me get ready first? It’ll make it more enjoyable for you if you aren’t fighting against my body—”
He grabs my leg over the blanket, trying to tug me to the edge. I kick at him, moving to smack him with my free hand and gripping Lachlan for dear life. “It doesn't matter much either way, babe.”
Swallowing, I peer up at him through my lashes. Anything to make him think this is a good idea for him. “Really, Dylan. I want to make it good. It won’t take long, this toy gets me wet so fast, it won’t even be much of a mood killer.”
And hopefully, I’ll orgasm quickly too. It doesn’t do me any good to get wetter for Dylan to assault me. The idea leaves my mouth dry, making my stomach heave. I will get sick if that’s what happens.
Dylan scoffs, rolling his eyes. “You sure are fucking chatty today, Iris. Fine, use it. Be fast. I already wasted a ton of time waiting for you.”
Oh god, how long? If he was here before Lachlan shifted wouldn’t one of us have noticed his presence? I don’t think Dylan would’ve hidden if he saw that.
Dylan waits, glaring at me, and it hits me that I’ve set myself up for this. I have to show him as he tears at the blanket. He’s going to want little bits of me to stave off what’s next while I fake my way through it. If Lachlan’s going to help me, I first have to put myself in more danger.
I wonder what my little vibrator is thinking right now. Is he totally pissed at me for getting into this situation?
The towel covering me is torn off and I wince, trying to clamp my legs shut. Dylan’s still wrestling with my legs, the blanket trapped over one of my knees, and it’s a struggle between keeping me in place and working on his belt.
Now or never.
“I’m going to use my toy until I cum,” I say, and Dylan gives me a weird look like he can’t stand the monologue. “So all you’ll have to hear is me.”
“That’s the fucking idea, Iris,” he hisses.
I really fucking hope Lachlan can pick up on my hints, and I’d like to think that he knows when and when not to open his mouth at this point. Taking a deep breath, I push his button and turn him on.
The dull buzzing sound fills the room, but there’s no voice. Nothing. It’s almost eerie when I don’t hear Lachlan speak, as though I really am all alone here.
“Wow, that thing’s little,” Dylan grumbles, and I need him to shut up if this is going to get anywhere. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you soon.”
I have to zone him out, picturing my big, blond hockey player instead so that Dylan doesn’t keep ruining the illusion. When I don’t look or listen to him, I can pretend this is just another day, another moment to break Lachlan out of his curse so we can talk.
The reminder helps the heat pool in my body, and I realize I want to see Lachlan. Not just because his presence creates a safety net, but because he’s a safe space for me.
Focusing on Lachlan’s memory, his touch and his palms and his fabulous cock, I forget all about Dylan. I’m not even watching him, which is probably careless, but I need Lachlan more than I need to fear Dylan.
“You’re taking too long,” Dylan growls, and the need building in my body starts to fizzle. It doesn’t have to be a satisfying orgasm, not to start, and so long as I keep my eyes shut and focus all my attention on Lachlan—
A gasp rips through my lips when the lackluster orgasm hits me, but as I feel the little vibe soften and thicken I know what’s happening without opening my eyes. Lachlan’s tongue feels so much better than the toy, but it’s about as short lived as the pleasure of that orgasm.
My eyes fly open when the feel of his tongue leaves me, at the same time that Dylan lets out a high pitched, terrified scream. His voice is unusually squeaky when he manages to scream. “What the hell!”
