Selena stared at me in horror, then jerked free and ran toward me.

That had never happened in any of my other visions.

She fell to her knees in front of me and cradled her head on my lap, sobbing. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”

Voss strode over, determination on his face. “You stupid bitch!” he shouted.

“You already called me that. Maybe think of something more original,” I shot back wishing I had my hands free so I could stroke Selena’s hair. Just like she used to do for me when I was a scared little girl climbing into her bed.

Voss reached behind his back and whipped out his gun.

My instinct was to close my eyes, but I glared at him, daring him to pull the trigger.

But as he lifted the weapon, a loud noise came from the other end of the warehouse. Voss spun around just as shelves started to tip, triggering a cascade toward the loading dock. He watched them fall, cursing. Then he turned back to me, with so much hate in his eyes that I flinched. This man was evil incarnate.

He started to lift the gun again, spitting out, “I’m gonna kill you, you stupid—”

But he didn’t finish the sentence. A figure dressed all in black leapt out of the shadows, tackling Voss to the ground. Voss and the figure began to wrestle.

“Selena,” I snapped. “Untie my hands.”

She lifted her head and looked at me vacantly, as though my words weren’t registering.

“Untie my hands!” While I hoped to God it was Boone wrestling with Voss, for all I knew he was part of Tommy T’s crew, and he’d take pleasure in killing me too.

She got to her feet and squatted behind me, tugging on the rope. “It’s too tight.”

“Selena. Use this.” A man appeared between the shelves next to my chair, hidden in the shadows. He tossed something toward us, and it slid across the floor, landing next to my chair.

It was a pocketknife.

I glanced up in time to see Cody’s face before he spun and ran for the opposite end of the aisle.

Selena grabbed the knife, flicked it open, and began sawing on the rope.

A gunshot rang out from the pile of the two men on the floor and, who were now about ten feet from us.

My heart slammed against my rib cage.

Boone.

I didn’t have confirmation it was him, but I knew.

The black-clad figure pushed to his feet, then squatted next to Voss, who was lying on his side, unmoving. He had a gun pointed at Voss. He leaned closer and pressed two fingers to the pulse point on the fallen man’s neck. A couple of seconds later, he stood and turned his gun toward the loading dock, but the men who’d been loading the vehicles were all jumping into vans and cars.

“Selena!” Cody called out. “Come on!”

She stopped sawing at the rope and leaned into my ear. “Sorry, Eye. I love you, but I have to go.”

I tried to whip my head around to see her, but she was already on her feet, running toward Cody, who was holding his hand out to her.

The man in black called out, “Cody!”

It was Boone.

Cody swung his gaze to Boone, still holding his hand out to Selena.

Selena slapped her hand into his, then tugged him toward the open bay. Everyone else had already left except for them.
