I laugh and turn toward her.

She sits up and points at me. “And don't think I don't notice that you suddenly seem more into that than hockey.”

“I like watching Tommy play.”

“You like watching Tommy.”

I roll my eyes. “I just said the exact same thing.”

I glance at her. “About what?”

She gives me a look. “The date.”

I smile. “It’s a double date.”

“Yeah.”

“With you and Lucas.”

“Yeah.”

“So why would I be nervous?” I ask.

“Because it's our first real date.”

“We've spent time together. We've kissed. We've talked until we fell asleep on the phone. We've been together every chance we've gotten.”

“But this is a date.” She sighs. “And I’m guessing that means date outfits and —”

“Oh my God, you’re worried about clothes!”

“Why does this excite you?” She grumbles.

“I think it'll be fun.”

Tessa smiles, “Me too.”

She reaches over and fixes a piece of my hair. “And if Lucas tries anything stupid, I'm kicking him.”

I laugh. “Why would he?”
