“I can’t believe you ghosted her,” Isaac groaned.

“I didn’t!” Caleb denied. “I just- I was so busy helping you I- I must have told her something.”

Except… He’d dropped everything to be with Isaac when he’d heard Isaac had been dumped. Had he stopped to tell her she needed to arrange her own ride to the fall festival?

“It’s fine. I can fix this,” Caleb said. “She forgave me last time-”

“You’ve done this before?” Isaac asked, incredulous.

“Only once!” Caleb said, then corrected himself. “Maybe twice.”

“You don’t abandon your girl like that,” Isaac lectured. “I don’t care what the reason was-”

“But your dog died!” Caleb rushed to defend himself. It was a perfectly good reason! He couldn’t have left Isaac alone after that. He’d be a horrible bro. She’d understood once he’d explained.

Isaac paused, then carefully asked, “And when was the other time?”

“Your car broke down. I had to pick you up so you weren’t late for class.”

“Back then I lived the opposite direction from you!” Isaac asked delicately. “And those are the only times?”

“They were all important! She said she understood! You needed me!”

“I didn’t know you were blowing off your girlfriend to be with me!”

Caleb leaned away from the stove, the fire finally hot enough to dry out the damp wood as it burned through the smaller drier wood.

A full body shiver almost made him drop the final log he stuffed in the wood stove.

“Get out of your wet clothes, you idiot,” Isaac said, practically ripping the wet jean vest off Caleb as he sat there and shivered. “Pants and boots too.”

Caleb stood, trying and failing to get his boots off. They were so wet they’d glued themselves to him.

Isaac knelt and helped Caleb ease them off, one at a time. Caleb used Isaac’s bare shoulder for balance.

There was a mostly naked Isaac at his feet. Staring was normal right? It didn’t mean anything.

“Pants,” Isaac ordered, staring up at Caleb impatiently.

Isaac was good at that - telling Caleb what to do. He was the only man on the hockey team Caleb would let get away with it. And Isaac knew it.

Hell. There was something wrong with Caleb. This shouldn’t feel so taboo. It was his best friend! They weren’t doing anything weird.

Caleb got as far as undoing the button and zipper before he paused. Fuck, he’d forgotten.

He’d gone commando.

“Hurry up,” Isaac said. “You’ll give yourself hypothermia.”

Caleb didn’t think it was that cold. Especially now that they had a fire going but… fine. He had no choice.

His jeans were so wet they were glued to his legs. Isaac was just trying to be helpful when he peeled them down Caleb’s hips.

Only to pause at the sudden full-frontal.

“Ah,” Isaac said, staring at Caleb’s exposed dick.

A dick that twitched under Isaac’s steady gaze and breath ghosting along its length.
