I blink fast before standing up and pulling my fist back, punching him in the mouth.

“You should’ve fucking started with that.”

Jagger wipes the blood from his mouth with the sleeve of his shirt as Geoff watches uselessly.

“I don’t know if she’s going to be okay, Jett. She’s in a coma. Mia was hurt really badly.”

My angel.

“I’m leaving and you’re taking me to see her, Jag.”

He nods and doesn’t argue even though I just hit him. I’m sure McKinley will have something to say about it, but I don’t fucking care right now. The only thing that matters is that I get to her.

“I have to advise against leaving, Jett. Your treatment is not finished.” Geoff says, and I roll my eyes.

“You can advise whatever the fuck you want, I need to be with her. Anything else can wait.”

I walk out of the therapy room with Jagger behind me.

“Don’t you have to sign papers or something?”

I chuckle, but there’s no humor behind it.

“I’m not wasting another fucking second. If you so much as stop for gas, I’ll deck you again.”

As we walk out the front door he mutters to himself.

“Guess it’s a good thing I filled up already. Asshole.”

The cool breeze causes the hair on my arms to stand up as we walk to his car. My mind is spinning out of control worrying about Mia.

Once he drives off, I demand answers.

“What are her injuries?”

He glances at me with a worried expression.

“Are you going to stay calm, or are you going to hit me again?”

“Calm as a cucumber,” I say dejectedly, even though I feel anything but.

Jagger flashes me a weird look and smirks at me.

“Cool as a cucumber, Jett.”

Arching an eyebrow, I say, “What?”

I have no idea what the hell he is talking about.

“I said calm, not cool.”

He rolls his eyes before turning back to the road.

“The saying is cool as a cucumber, not calm.”

“Whatever, Jagger. I said what I said. Her injuries.”

“Her face is all bandaged up. The windshield broke and cut her up pretty badly. Also, contusions to her head.”
