Chapter Thirty-Seven

JETT

Regret fills me when I glance over and see Mia with her hand over her mouth in what must be disgust. Geoff was wrong. I was wrong. Nobody could accept this. Now I’ve lost her for good. This is what he was worried about. He knew what I was doing, what the outcome would be. Did he also know my skin would be tingling with the need to shoot up? Probably.

My shirt feels three sizes too small. This fucking tie is choking me, I losen it with the urgency to breathe. My heart races, and my hands are clammy. How could I even think she’d still want me after reading this? I’m such a fucking idiot. I need to get out of here. I can’t be here.

“I have to go.”

“I have to go.”

“I have to go.”

“Goddamn it, Jett. Look at me.”

Her voice snaps me back to reality. I don’t know how it happened, but she’s on my lap with my chin in her small hand. My face is wet.

“Is it raining?”

Leaning forward, she kisses my drenched cheeks.

“No, Jett. You’re crying.”

Placing my hands on her hips, I prepare to move her off me.

“I have to go.”

She shakes her head with a disapproving glint in her eyes.

“No, Jett. You’re exactly where you need to be.”

Again she kisses me and confusion swirls in my brain. My head is cloudy, like there's fog and I can’t make sense of anything.

“You’re mine. Your demons are mine. Your pain is mine. Jett, you’re not alone anymore because you made the choice to let me in. Now, we fight this together.”

“Angel,” I breathe, incapable of any other words.

The wind blows lightly through her hair, causing her scent to envelop me, and it’s fucking heaven as peace washes over me. Mia brushes her lips over mine with a delicate touch.

“Do you not want to kiss me?” She asks in a voice so sultry it nearly brings me to my knees.

I tangle my hand in her hair and hold her head to the side exactly where I want it.

“Do I not want to kiss you? Angel, I want to kiss you and so much more. I am afraid once I start I won’t be able to stop. But if you want to play with fire, I’ll light the match.”

Running my tongue up the side of her neck, she digs her nails into my shoulders with a whimper.

“Lift your dress up,” I command.

Her eyes widen in surprise and she glances around the property, “Here?”

“Mia,” I groan, “I don’t give a fuck where we are. Lift your fucking dress up.”

Lifting herself up, she pulls her dress up and I say, “Get my cock out.”

“Oh my God,” she whispers as her cheeks flame a beautiful crimson.
