“Am I interrupting something?” I ask, trying to keep my tone even.

Fuck, I try to keep my eyes on her face. I don’t know why she tries to cover up her shape, because she’s fucking sexy. And right now, she’s dressed way too sexy for Blade to be seeing her like this.

Blade glances over at me and smirks as if he knows exactly what I’m thinking. “Elena and I were both up early, so I showed her around. Did you know that she—”

“She’s not yours to show anything,” I snap.

Blade arches his brow and then takes his black-framed reading glasses off. Ignoring me, he smiles up at my wife. “Thanks for the help.”

“Anytime,” she replies sweetly. “I’m going to head to the gym to run on the treadmill. Haze said I can use it whenever I want.”

I grit my teeth as she walks past me like she doesn’t even know me. My eyes drop to her peachy ass in those leggings. Jesus, she’s going to wear that around all of the men? She should go back to those loose, unfitting dresses. “Did she eat something?”

“Yeah, she made some eggs, bacon, and toast for us,” he replies absently, closing his laptop and standing.

I glance around the kitchen. “Did she make any for me?”

“Nope.” He grins, his green eyes flickering with amusement. “Just for me.” I’m sure I hear him mutter something about breakfast with a view.

Yeah, he wants to die today.

He moves to walk past me, but I put my hand out, stopping him.

“Are you okay, Suit? You seem a little more tense than usual,” he asks, keeping a straight face.

“Stay away from her,” I demand.

“You want her to have no friends here? A bit late for that… everyone already loves her,” he comments, pushing past my hand and leaving the room.

After making myself a coffee, my legs have taken me to the gym before I even know it.

Is this what my life is going to be like now? Following her around, making sure she’s okay?

When I’m back at work on Monday, she’s going to have to manage here without me, so it’s good she’s making herself at home.

Standing at the door, I watch her jogging on the treadmill, headphones covering her ears. Her round ass bounces with each step, and my throat works as I swallow.

She’s a good girl and deserves more than all of this. But this is the hand we’ve been dealt. Leaving her to her own devices, I go find Prez. Our first gun shipment from the Bratva arrives today.

And I need the reminder that this is nothing more than a business deal.

“Where the fuck is my wife?” I growl, banging on Lore’s door.

He cracks it open, grinning at me. “Now why would you be asking me where your wife is?”

“Because you’re in the damn group chat, and you know fucking everything,” I reply between clenched teeth.

His violet eyes dance with humor as he opens the door wider. “Okay, I do know. They’re all at Skull and Bones’ house getting ready for the party. They took her shopping earlier today too.”

She could have sent me a fucking message, but then I realize we didn’t even swap phone numbers. She is not mine. She can do whatever she wants, but it’s still my responsibility to keep her safe.

“They’ll come here when the party starts,” he adds, smirking as I turn and walk to my room.

“Why do you care where she is? You’re only married on paper, right?” he calls out.

Slamming my door shut behind me, I lay back on my bed and stare at the ceiling.

I’m tense as fuck.
