The scientist was slender, with glasses, and looked more like a kid out of high school. He took one look toward the door, and as he let the two guards go, he grabbed the nearest chair and sent it flying toward the scientist, which made him fall down.
“Wow, okay, that is fucking amazing,” Bolt said.
Within minutes, he had all three men tied to chairs. This did not make any sense. There were no security cameras. The drugs were here, hidden away in shoeboxes. He figured that was original.
Without saying a word and leaving Bolt to guard the men, he started to look around the room for any sign of who or what might be connected to this. He couldn’t find anything. There was no paperwork, other than the kid’s notes on chemicals and components. But he did see an analysis of the compounds of the Romano drug.
“You’ve made a big mistake,” the man with the broken nose said.
“You’re the one that has been doing this?” Venom asked, taking the pad of notes and standing in front of the scientist.
Once again, he was sweating.
“I ... uh ... I can’t tell you anything.”
Venom let the piece of paper drop onto the pad, grabbed it with two hands, and slammed it against the man’s face, knocking the glasses right off, and he moaned. Within seconds, he started to cry.
“Please don’t, please.”
He was not in the mood for begging.
“I was just doing what I was told.”
“Who told you?” Venom asked.
“David, you keep your fucking mouth shut.” This came from the broken nose guy. So far, Bolt had stayed silent.
“David, do you know you’re responsible for killing a fifteen-year-old girl?” Venom asked. He liked to see the kind of men he was dealing with.
David shook his head. “No, no, this is ... no, not kids. No, this is for adults that don’t want to deal with someone else, someone who is bad.”
“How old are you?” Venom asked. He couldn’t take the kid seriously.
“Twenty-three.”
“You’re dead, boy. You hear me, you’re fucking dead.”
Venom didn’t need to hit the broken nose guy again, as Bolt took care of it for him, and he nodded at the other man. Thankfully, the man was groaning too much to be heard over everything else.
“Twenty-three. You don’t look old enough to be cooking drugs,” he said.
David looked at him, and to the other three guards, then Venom spotted the bedroom that had been made up in the office.
“They have my family,” David said. “They said if I didn’t do exactly as they told me, they’d kill them.”
Venom looked at David, and he had a feeling he knew exactly who he was talking about.
Chapter Twelve
Morwenna laid the last of the food out onto the long table, and before she’d even taken the plastic wrap off, several of the guys were at the table.
“Thank you,” Storm said, coming toward her. “It really has been a blessing, you bringing food. None of them liked the takeout I ordered, and they’re not exactly the nicest bunch of men when they don’t get what they want.”
She chuckled. “It’s fine. I’m glad they want it, because if they didn’t that would mean slowing down, and I love being in my kitchen. You know this.”
Storm stroked her arm. “I do, and will you stay for a cup of coffee?”
She truly didn’t think that was a good idea. After all, she was trying to divorce her son, while also having sex with another man now.
