“You’re mine,” Bolt said.
“You have a funny way of showing it, but seeing as you had to ask, Venom here was kind enough to dance with me. Not that you would have helped me, huh?” she asked. “Not at all, because you don’t dance, and because you don’t, that meant I had to follow your command.” She shook her head, and he watched as she shoved him hard. “Asshole.”
She turned back to Venom and he had no choice but to nudge her out of the way, otherwise, there was a chance she would get caught in the crossfire.
Bolt took a swing at him, and he had no choice but to grab his arm, and in doing so, shoved him forward and pressed him against the bar. He leaned over him, and he was the one who had complete control over Bolt. Not the other way around.
“I suggest you think about your next step, because all it would take from me is one move, and that arm of yours is broken. I would be quite happy to do it as well. You’re upsetting Morwenna. You do not want to play this game with me, boy, you will lose.”
He gave him a final warning shove, just slightly, and then he let go, and Bolt’s face was red.
“Come on,” Morwenna said. “You didn’t want to come out anyway, let’s go.”
Chapter Eight
Morwenna looked around the bar for the second time that week. She unsuccessfully went out on Friday with Venom, trying to find him a woman. That ended in a total bust. They instead went home, watched a movie, ate the ice cream she’d made the day before, and went to bed.
Saturday, Venom warned her he was going to be away, so she went and spent some time at her parents’. This sucked big time, as she still had the bruise from her previous encounter with Bolt. Of course, her father wasn’t happy, and he wanted to do something about it.
With her mother’s help, she was able to stop him from doing anything crazy. It was an accident, but she didn’t want her father fighting with Bolt. It was bad enough that every single time she was alone with him, it seemed to end in an argument. They never argued. Even when they were kids, they never had any conflict, but this was different. This was their marriage that had fallen apart.
On Sunday, Storm called her and asked if she wanted to have a girls’ night. Several of the women were getting together, and it had been over a year since she last had a girls’ night. She needed it, because she loved her parents, but her father’s disapproval with Bolt was starting to weigh on her last nerve.
She decided she wasn’t going to stay at her parents’ either. Her intention was to go back to the ranch, and just get over the thought of being alone. It was going to happen, whether she liked it or not.
This is why, on a Sunday, she was sitting at the bar, nursing a glass of orange juice, glancing toward the stage at the naked men currently prancing up and down, dancing for the screaming women. Storm hadn’t invited her to be one of the girls. They were not sitting around talking and drinking. Everyone was interested in the naked men on stage. It was a total disaster.
Morwenna knew she was strange as she never got her kicks out of seeing men strip and rub their bodies in her face. They tried to get her a stripper for her bridal shower, which was insane, seeing as she’d been sixteen years old. Thankfully, she’d declined.
Rather than join in the shouting and all that stuff, she grabbed her drink and was able to walk out into the cold night. It was getting colder. She quickly unwound her sweater from around her waist and pulled it on.
“Sweetheart, what are you doing coming out here?” Storm asked.
“I’m going to head home.”
“But it’s girls’ night.”
“No, this is not girls’ night. This is screaming at a bunch of naked men, and that is not my thing, so I’m going to head home.” She hadn’t drunk anything, and she’d brought her car.
“It was lovely to see you.” She moved up toward Storm and gave her a hug.
“I’m sorry,” Storm said. “I thought I was doing the right thing.”
“Would you have done the same for Rose or Sarah, or Ruth, or Katherine?” she asked, naming a few of the other old ladies.
Storm looked at her and nodded.
“You know, I thought being an old lady, I was part of the group. I wore my patch with pride. I was Bolt’s wife, an old lady with the Evil Dwellers MC, and I thought that would earn me some respect, but it didn’t.”
“I do respect you.”
“Not enough to have told me what was going on.” She tossed her bottle into the trash and pulled her keys out of her pocket.
She didn’t even think she was angry with Storm or the other women, but tonight had proven her wrong. She was angry with them, and she felt betrayed. They didn’t have her back, like she had theirs. If she even suspected, or had proof, which is what they had, she would have gone to them. She wouldn’t have wanted them to look like fools.
“Don’t walk away,” Storm said.
Morwenna was heading back to her car, and she spun around to face her mother-in-law. “He was feeding me the contraceptive pill, and I thought they were fucking vitamins. He gave me a damn STD, and I had to go to a fucking sexual health clinic to get tested and medicated. He has three kids with a woman and has been cheating on me for five years, and now, he is not even going to grant me a divorce, and one of his kids is even named after me.” She shook her head. “All I ever did was prove my loyalty to you, to the club. When the cops came around and started ransacking our house because they thought I would be the easy target, I called you and Maverick before my own freaking parents. I was terrified. I did whatever was asked. I lied for you all, and what did I get? I got shit on from a great height, all because he was your son.”
