She rolled her eyes but took the beer, taking back a swig, and he saw her face cringe the moment she did so.

“See, aren’t you glad I let you try? Don’t worry, we can let you try other things.” He ordered her a whiskey, and this made her laugh.

“I don’t like beer, so you think something ... stronger?”

“You never know. You might be a whiskey girl, or perhaps tequila.”

She shrugged. “You’re right. Tonight is about having fun.”

Morwenna and himself had taken care of Star and Bolt’s kids for the last two days. He had a feeling Morwenna was falling in love with those kids, and he couldn’t deny they were adorable. He saw how hurt she was, not having kids of her own. She’d make a good mother. Just in the last few days, all her work was pushed aside, and she completely devoted her time to the three kids.

As for the children, when Bolt and Star came to pick them up, the kids looked like they were going to hell, rather than back to their mother. Morwenna smiled and hugged and kissed the kids.

He saw Star was pissed at her, but it didn’t matter. After they were gone, Morwenna spent the afternoon cleaning, then went to her room, where he was pretty sure he heard her crying.

He’d been more than happy to not go out tonight, however, it seemed Morwenna had other ideas.

Her face wasn’t puffy from crying, but he knew for a short time she had been crying.

“Oh, you know, I completely forgot to tell you, I’ve decided I want to get that tattoo. With everything going on, I completely forgot about it, but when you drew on my arm, I didn’t hate it at all. I liked it.”

“When are you getting it?”

“I’m not sure yet. I don’t know who or where the best place to go is. I was hoping you’d be able to help me.” She pressed her hands together. “Please, please, please, please.”

He chuckled. “You don’t need to go begging me. I’m quite happy to help. But first, we’re done with all this drinking. Let’s dance.”

“Wait, no, we can’t. Is there a woman you’ve seen that you want to dance with?” she asked.

“Yeah, I have—you—now come on.” He grabbed her arm, and she was no match for his strength, as he was able to pull her onto the dance floor.

“I don’t dance.”

“You don’t?” he asked.

“I can’t dance.”

“Didn’t you have a wedding dance or go to prom?” he asked.

“Uh, Bolt never liked to dance, so we never joined in.”

He rolled his eyes, because he was getting a little fucked off with hearing everything Bolt liked. When was Bolt going to allow Morwenna to do something she enjoyed? This was starting to piss him off. He didn’t even know if she realized what she was doing.

He pulled her in close, because by some chance, the music slowed down. It wasn’t a love number, but the slowness worked wonders. He put his hand at the base of her back and pulled her in a little closer.

“We need to be close like this,” he said.

“We’re close.”

He got her to put both of her hands over his shoulders, and he held her at the waist.

“This is fine. It is close. I don’t have bad breath, do I?” she asked. “I go to the dentist regularly.”

“Stop, you don’t have bad breath. Just relax.”

He had to hold in his wince, because she stood on his foot.

“I’m sorry. I told you I can’t dance.”
