Ten missed alerts.
As fast as I could, I read messages notifying me that the fight was about to begin, or that it had begun, then asking where the fuck I was. The last one was from my brother. All it read was 911.
All the frustrations I had been ignoring over the years of being loyal to Giver gathered in one second flat, and my open right hand was sailing through the air. Whack! I slapped my gorgeous husband right across his face. His head jerked to my left and stayed there. I witnessed him blink in shock. Then, hesitantly, he started looking around.
“Giver!” I rushed my arms around his neck. “Giver!”
Confused, as expected, his arms slowly and lightly wrapped around my waist. “W-We’re still at Delilah’s?”
“No time. Stallions and Ryders are in trouble!”
“What?” He jolted back from my embrace, looking around again. He yelled, “Where are they?”
I started running, knowing he would follow me anywhere. I didn’t bother with the woods alongside the road. No one was there to see us. Easily, Giver caught up to me, already double-checking his waistline and holsters for guns. I assured him, “You’re still packin’.” As soon as he spotted his bike, he picked up speed and reached for the keys in his pocket. Trying so hard to catch back up, I passed him by as he stopped on a dime. I ran back to him, dumbfounded as to why he was stalling. “What are you doing? Come on!”
His eyes filled with rage, and his shoulders grew as his nostrils flared. “Why the fuck is my favorite treat on my motherfucking lips, Justice?”
I swallowed. “Giver, I have no time to explain—”
“Goddamnit!” He threw his keys to the ground and started pacing, not even bothering to look at me. “You promised me!”
Fuck it. I guess pissed Giver is better than none. I snatched his keys from the ground and took off running. My brothers needed us. Needed his gun. As soon as I was almost to Giver’s bike, I yelled, “I fucked Dick!” then hopped onto his bike and started the engine, kicking up the jiffy and throwing on my helmet. Shifting the beast into gear, I tightened my arms and legs, bracing for the madman who was a second away from jumping on the back because he knew I was crazy enough to leave his stubborn, jealous ass behind.
His weight pushed me forward as he loaded in a hurry. His arms wrapped around my waist as he bitched and bitched… “Your fucking gorgeous ass is going over my knee as soon as I’m done shooting dickwads. I’m not kidding, Justice…”
No time to listen to his mouth run on and on, I hit the throttle and roared his bike to life. We were off to join a battle I was hoping wasn’t already over with my brothers on the losing side. I yelled over his muffler, “Helmet up!”
He shouted, “Is that how you tell Dick to condom up?” then chucked his helmet into the woods.
“No!” I watched it land then roll. “Giver! It’s your cock, dipshit!”
“Justice!”
Racing around a corner, I yelled over his engine, “Do you have any fucking clue what it is like to be married to you?”
“A dream come fucking true!”
“Hardly, asshat!”
“At least I don’t cheat!”
“I fucked you!”
“No! You fucked him!”
“Fine! You now have a Hall Pass!”
“What the fuck is that?”
I braked hard before taking another corner. “You get to fuck another girl without me being allowed to bitch about it!”
“Fine! Consider me cashing in my ‘pass’.”
“Fine! Now shut up! Ryder’s clubhouse is under attack. I have no idea what we’re rolling up on. Stick ammo in my pockets. Whatever you have to do to prepare for a ride through if needed. Palm your bad boys and get ready to kill.”
Giver did just that, stashed ammo and weapons for easy reach, but it didn’t stop his mouth from running while doing it. “Don’t tell me how to kill! I fucking know what I’m doing! Let’s get the subject back to Dick!”
“No, thank you! I’ve already been there and done that!”
