I dragged my tongue around her nipple, teasing, savoring. She arched back, her skin flushed, her breath uneven. Her nipple—red, the color of a kidney bean, and just as firm as an uncooked one.
So fucking sexy.
I held her close but not too tight.
I had always believed she was mine, that she would wait for me. That I just needed to be ready to sweep her off her feet.
Until I saw Dannie.
Until I saw the way he looked at her.
He saw her. Really saw her. The same way I did.
He saw what made her perfect, what made her a dream woman. And he wasn’t afraid to claim her.
He didn’t wait.
“Princess, baby,” I whispered, a sliver of insecurity creeping into my voice.
“Yes?” She played with my hair.
“Are you really here?”
“Of course.” She leaned in, her nose brushing against mine.
“It killed me, seeing you with him.”
“I’m…” She cupped my face, “sorry,” she murmured, pressing a kiss to my lips. “I thought it was a harmless favor,” she whispered against my skin, kissing my eye, “until I saw how sad you were.”
Our lips met again, a slow, unyielding collision of longing and desperation.
I wanted her.
Needed her. And I had to show her just how much.
I’d waited my entire life for her. Waited for the right time, for myself to be ready. But the last few hours had been the worst. The longest. The hardest. The most agonizing wait of my existence.
Now that she was finally mine, I couldn’t let go.
But tomorrow, I would have to leave her.
I wanted to stay.
Staying was easy.
Leaving was impossible.
But when had doing the impossible ever been a choice?
The night was still young, but dawn would come too soon, stealing her from me before I was ready.
I flipped June over, her bare skin pressing against the plush brown suede of the couch. Her breath hitched as she instinctively moved to cover herself—one hand over the center of her chest, the other hovering near her core.
“Don’t,” I murmured, gently grasping her wrists and easing them away, exposing her fully to my gaze.
“Then stop looking at me like that,” she whispered, voice trembling.
“Like what?”
