I never really understood the appeal of watching someone sleep.

Until now.

There was something really serene about it. The whole world was muted, and I wanted it to stay that way. The urge to keep that silence was strong.

A crack of lightning outside the hotel suite window made me realize that the silence was about to be broken, and there was nothing I could do about it.

The Thompson hotel didn’t use cheap interior designers. The walls were thick and laid with luxurious wallpaper that was changed well before it started to look tired. But the walls and windows were not entirely soundproof. Not enough. Not for what was about to happen.

There. The loud sound of the thunder made June fidget ever so slightly. Though it sounded stupid, I couldn’t help but wonder if the thunder sounded louder on the top floors of buildings this high.

June rubbed her half-opened eyes and blinked lazily. “What time is it?”

Supporting my upper body with my elbow, I leaned in and kissed her forehead.

“It’s 4:20. Go back to sleep.”

“But I don’t want this night to end.” A yawn took over and she fell back to sleep right away. She had left her hand casually on my upper thigh.

“You want more, princess?” I whispered as I stroked her hair.

After our rather public display of affection, we came up to the suite reserved under the Bennet Medical Group. It was a complimentary room given by the hotel as a token of appreciation for booking their grand ballroom. Although, with the connections that June had, she could easily get any room she wanted for free.

However, I couldn’t imagine June doing that. She would never take advantage of her friends, or their businesses like that. It was a common practice in business, to use your connections to get things done. Of course, a little deal here and there that benefited everyone, wasn’t so bad. That is how we keep the world going round.

I was surprised that the staff that worked the gala had actually used the room. As we came into the room, frantically touching and kissing each other, we kept bumping into things that were just laying around the room. We’d tripped over some open boxes, then bags of unknown items, and what looked like extra promotional materials.

There wasn’t any time to rearrange the room. We both wanted to be absolutely naked together, to have more of what we’d had in the ballroom. A lot more. In the end, we had three or four more sessions until June practically dropped dead.

The sex was simple and vanilla. There wasn’t anything overly kinky. Well, apart from some spanking here and there. But I definitely loved every moment of it.

My heart was in it. It wasn’t like all the other times, when I was merely seeking a thrill and the need to get off.

Frankly, it scared me a little. I knew who I was fucking. My best friend’s sister, the one I wasn’t supposed to be fucking around with, unless I was willing to offer her the keys to my castle. And when I called her princess, I meant it. Every single time.

I wandered into the mini bar area and found a fridge. A full-sized, fully stocked refrigerator, apart from raw items, which make sense as they didn’t have the facilities to cook in the room. I settled on a bottle of Perrier then unscrewed the lid. The fizziness from the water was loud in the quiet room. It wasn’t something I usually noticed. The chaos in my head wouldn’t allow me to notice the little things in life.

Then the rain started. That was something I did notice, every now and then. I enjoyed the gentle sound of rain, even when it came as a heavy downpour.

“Water seems like a great idea.” Her voice startled me. It was still sleepy and tired.

I turned to see her right behind me, a sleepy smile on her face.

“Did I wake you?” I asked, brushing hair back from her face.

“No. Well, kind of.”

“I’m sorry.” It wasn’t sorry that I was feeling. But I did feel guilty for not letting her rest more.

“Well, I’m not.” She snatched the bottle from my hand and sipped. “That felt nice. I love the taste of fizzy water.”

I tilted her chin and brought her lips to mine.

“Who knew fizzy water could taste so divine.”

“Are you calling me plain and simple?” She pulled her face back from mine.
