His tongue ran up my throat, raising his mouth to my ear. “Make no mistake,” he whispered, venom dripping off his voice like honey. “You are mine.”

Hearing those words after hanging in this weird limbo nearly pushed me over the edge. I hadn’t realized how much I needed to hear them. Especially now when I was cast out from the only life I’d ever known.

Pulling his mouth away from my ear, he tightened his grip on my jaw and looked down on me. “Say it.”

“I…I’m…” God, it was hard to speak when he was ramming into me like this. Pinned against this door, there was no room to wiggle away or catch a tiny break between thrusts. His dick was hitting all the right spots inside of me, and his lower abdomen rubbed against my clit with every move. Euphoria had me by the neck, and it wouldn’t be long before it consumed me.

“Say it,” he commanded again, pushing himself deeper inside of me.

“I’m… I’m…Fuck, Mateo, I’m yours!” I couldn’t hold myself back as the words slipped from my lips. I came all over his dick, drenching his skin in my essence.

He didn’t stop as my body glitched against him. He fucked me through my orgasm, easing out every single drop.

As my body stilled, he kissed me softly, sealing our commitment.

I kissed him back as best as I could. Between the alcohol, the dancing, and the sex, my body was worn out.

Mateo noticed the weariness in my kisses and pulled me away from the door. “Come on,” he muttered. “Let’s get you cleaned up.”

He carried me into the bathroom and set me down on the toilet. He ran warm water over a wash cloth and washed the excess moisture off my inner thighs.

I expected him to stop there, but he rummaged through the cabinets for a pack of makeup remover wipes. Gently, he ran the wet cloths over my face, rubbing off every inch of product.

Once I was clean, he carried me back to my room. There, he traded my dress for one of his tee shirts, enveloping me in his woody scent.

I could barely keep my eyes open by the time he laid me in bed. The mattress dipped from his weight as he lay beside me. I wiggled towards him, closing the small distance between us, and rested my head on his chest. His heartbeat thudded in my ears, yanking my eyes down lower.

“Simone,” he called before I could shut them completely.

“Hm?” I hummed, already on the cusps of unconsciousness.

“Don’t ever question how I feel for you again.”

THE ASSASSIN

I never thought I’d like cuddling.

Usually, I bolt the minute my business with a woman is finished. I wasn’t interested in opening the door for anything more than physical pleasure. Nor did I want a woman overthinking the gesture and getting attached.

Until Simone.

When she asked me to stay after our first time together, the familiar urge to leave - to run - washed over me. From the way her eyes immediately dropped and a frown painted her swollen lips, I knew she’d seen it crash over me. Had she been anyone else, I would’ve swatted the offer away like an annoying fly. But the thought of leaving her sitting there wrapped in her sheets, naked and vulnerable, made my chest tight.

Warmth replaced the pain when she lay her head on my chest and draped an arm over my abdomen. The sensation was nothing more than a handful of sparks back then.

Now as she lay with her arms wrapped tight around my torso and her leg hooked around mine, snoring softly, it felt like my whole damn body was on fire.

I wanted to move. Step outside on the balcony. Cool off in the winter air.

But like before, the thought of leaving Simone in bed by herself - especially after we just reunited - ached.

The lines of silver light slipping through the windows traced her cheeks and lashes. Her jaw wasn’t clenched from grinding her teeth nor were her eyes fluttering with unsettling dreams. Instead, her lips were slightly parted, adding volume to her soft snores, and her eyeballs moved slowly underneath her eyelids. A sign of good dreams.

I raised my hand and cautiously, as not to wake her, brushed my fingers over her cheek.

She didn’t stir under my touch. Her body grew heavier, releasing any lingering tension it was holding.

Never did I think I’d be the one to provide her the peace she deserved. Serenity was never in my nature. Even in a past life, chaos was always my chosen form of agency.
