My humor disappears.

“What?”

“The deputy opened it.”

“Okay. Thank you.”

“Do you want me to watch your house?”

“No.”

“I can see the whole front from my kitchen.”

“Please stay inside.”

“I have binoculars.”

“Lock your doors.”

“I always lock my doors. I don't hide keys in fake rocks.”

Doc looks down.

His shoulders move.

I hang up.

“Go ahead.”

He looks innocent.

“Say it.”

“I have nothing to say.”
