“She’s lucky you even give a damn,” Lotus countered. “You’re like a fucking saint, T. No cap.”

“I know what it’s like to be alone. Even if she isn’t grateful now, maybe one day she will be. If she doesn’t do right by that baby, though, I’ll gladly report her and make sure she ends up in a nice home.”

“What do you think about this?” Lotus faced her with a silk and satin teal colored nightgown with a matching robe and G-string.

“I love that! Get more than one color.”

After lunch, Lotus and Toni went their separate ways. Lotus had the day off since Bull was working from home, and now all she wanted to do was take a much-needed nap. Hopping into her whip, she started her car and headed toward home. Eazy called, which was unexpected considering he’d been texting her to death. Lotus stared at the screen, not sure if she wanted to talk to him after her run in with Niva. Taking a breath, she finally swiped to pick up.

“Hello.”

“How much of my money you spend?” Eazy sounded like he was in a good mood, which only further irritated her.

“You said get whatever I needed,” she replied dryly.

“I’m working until about five. I’ll run to Freshway and pick up what I need for dinner.”

“Okay.”

“What’s wrong witchu?” Eazy sensed her mood through the phone.

“I’m tired. It’s been a long day, and I need a nap. Is there anything else?” Lotus glanced at traffic through her rearview mirror but kept steering.

“You mad at me now?”

“I’m entitled to feel however the fuck I want to feel, Eazy! You’re not the only one dealing with shit!”

“Calm the fuck down—”

“Go to hell.”

She ended the call and tossed her phone in the seat. He called back. Twice. Instead of answering, she drove home in silence. She really didn’t want to deal with him or his shit right now. The minute she was inside, Lotus locked up, tossed her bags at the door, and stomped up the steps to the bedroom. She kicked off her shoes, slipped into something more comfortable, and crawled into the comfy pillow top mattress. It didn’t require much for her to fall asleep these days. Eventually, she drifted off with disturbing thoughts plaguing her.

Hours later, rubbing sleep from her eyes, Lotus picked her head up off her pillow and inhaled. Something was cooking. Looking around the bare bedroom, she picked up her phone beside her and studied the time. It was a little after 8:00 p.m. now. She rolled out of bed, and decided to go shower, but she spotted something on a chair and a pair of his shoes on the floor beside it. Marching over to the chair, Lotus picked up the hoodie and brought it to her nose. She inhaled his cologne and smiled before setting it back on the chair. Taking in the rest of the room, she also spied his phone charger on the bedside table on the side of the bed he usually slept on.

Eazy. This man bought her a whole house, and somehow, the shit felt more like a breakup gift than a step toward the future. Not that they’d broken up. At least she didn’t think they had. Hell, maybe she needed to ask. Whatever this awkward purgatory they were currently living in, it hadn’t stopped him from being Eazy. That right there was their entire problem. He still called her every morning, making sure she took her vitamins and calculating her sugar intake. He knew when every appointment was and cooked for her regularly because the child inside her decided that he and Toni were the only two people in Prospect Pointe qualified to prepare food. He was doing everything but staying at night.

After emptying her bladder, she washed her hands and checked her reflection. A pair of cut off sweat shorts with her sports bra was all she wore. Belly on full display, she slid her feet into her Crocs and headed downstairs. The house still didn’t have a lot of personality, but she could admit she was grateful to be out of the apartment because it was starting to feel a bit claustrophobic. Now there were boxes everywhere, but she’d been unpacking here and there between taking care of the kids for Bull and Toni. Those two had been through enough this week. She’d even taken Breeze and Bijou for a couple of nights so Toni could plan her mother’s final arrangements and deal with Uma. Lotus paused in the doorway to the massive kitchen and watched Eazy move around.

“I thought you weren’t moving in yet.” Her voice pulled him from his task, and his warm gaze slowly drifted over her.

“I ain’t.”

“Hmm.” She eyed him using his favorite pan from her Palate Pleasures Kitchen collection as he bathed the salmon in butter.

“Yeah. Okay.” Lotus snickered and marched over to the fridge.

“I got some shit to handle with Bull tonight anyway. So, I’ll be out late. I’ll probably just stay at Summit and Taci’s though, since it’s closer to the gallery, and I have to be there early for a shipment.”

“You sure that’s all it is?” Lotus questioned, slamming the freezer closed when she didn’t see what she wanted inside.

“What you looking for?”

“I wanted ice cream,” she mumbled.

“There’s still vanilla in there.”

“I wanted strawberry,” she pouted, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.
