"We'll hire a car. I'll be using the bike."
He frowns.
"Why?"
My eyes travel to Trix involuntarily, watching as she pours a drink for Chad, who's leaning on the bar, a little too close to her.
"Does it have something to do with the new bartender?"
I shrug, then stand up without giving him an answer.
When he doesn't move, I dig my knee into his leg, my eyes slicing over to him.
"Move," I grunt.
A satisfied grin takes over his face as he scoots across the leather bench.
"I hope you know your silence answers my question better than your words ever could."
Chapter Twelve
Trix
"What are you doing once you get off tonight, Freckles?" the young, blond idiot asks. He wiggles his eyebrows suggestively as I top up his drink, then slide it toward him.
I shrug and spin around to place the bottle of vodka back on the shelf, while trying to hide the grimace I can't contain due to the ridiculous nickname he used for me.
"Well, why don't you come find me when you finish, and we can make it a fun night."
A disgusted shiver runs through my body and I scoff.
"No, thanks," I say, turning back around to face him.
He's still smirking, undeterred by my blatant rejection.
Movement over his shoulder pulls my attention away from him, and my pulse spikes when my eyes connect with Reeve's as he makes his way to the bar.
"I could easily change—"
"She said no, Chad," Reeve barks, stepping up to the bar, fire in his eyes as he shoots a scathing glare at the blond kid. "Now, fuck off."
Chad kisses his teeth, winks at me, then grabs his drink and walks away.
"Cocky fucking asshole," Reeve grumbles as he sits on one of the stools, resting his arms on the bar between us.
"I had it handled," I tell him, rolling my eyes.
Heat blazes across my skin as his gaze slowly travels from my face, down to my hips, then back up.
Cocking a brow, he tilts his head to the side.
"You look different with your hair down."
His comment catches me by surprise, and by the way his lips tug up, I think he notices.
"Thanks. I think?" I reply, confused as to whether I should take it as a compliment or not.
He nods, then he just stares at me.
