Earlier today, he’d woken from an erotic dream, only to realize that it wasn’t a dream. No, Naomi was really sucking his rock-hard cock with such skill that he’d woken just when he was climaxing and shooting his seed into her mouth. Fuck, just remembering that moment made him want to drag her back into the elevator and drive back home so they could continue where they’d left off.
“Uh, the party.” He cleared his throat. Did she know what he was imagining right now?
“You’re naughty,” Naomi murmured and cast him a sinful sideways glance. “I guess I have to do that more often.”
“Fuck, chérie,” he cursed, realizing how easily Naomi could read him, and not just because they had a telepathic bond. “You can do that anytime you want. But we have to attend this damn party right now. Just for a little while anyway.” For the first time he truly understood his parents, and the fact that they couldn’t keep their hands off each other even in public—because he felt the same with Naomi.
She smirked. “Okay. So, what’s the occasion for this party?”
“One of our former employees is visiting with his wife from New Orleans. We haven’t seen him in a while, so Samson decided to throw a party.” He smiled at her. “It’s perfect timing, because I want to show you off and introduce you to everybody.”
“Do they all know that we’re blood-bonded now?”
“My parents know, and they’re so happy about it that I’m sure the news has spread like wildfire. Or why do you think Benjamin has made himself scarce the last two days? He wanted to give us some privacy.”
Naomi’s cheeks turned rosy. “That’s very considerate of him. But you can’t expect him to stay away from his flat forever.”
He winked, and leaned in. “I know. That’s why you’ll have to let me know where in San Francisco you’d like to live, so I can buy us a house or a condo, whatever you want.”
“Are you serious?”
“Of course, I am.” Had she really thought they’d be sharing a flat with his twin? As much as he loved his brother, he wanted to live alone with Naomi. Well, until they had kids, though he didn’t want to start a family as quickly as Ryder. He wanted time alone with Naomi first. “Now, let’s party.”
He swiped his access card at the card reader outside the V lounge and opened the door. Inside the large room, vampires, hybrids, and their mates and children were already assembled. The lights were festive, and jazz music was coming from the speakers in the ceiling. The seating areas had been rearranged so that there was space to dance later. The bar in the middle of the room that normally served only blood on tap, offered wine and other spirits tonight, as well as finger food.
“Scanguards really likes their parties, don’t they?” Naomi said from next to him.
Most women were dressed in pretty cocktail dresses, most men in elegant suits just like Damian. He caught Eddie’s eye, and ushered Naomi in his direction.
“This is my uncle, Eddie,” Damian said. “This is Naomi, my—”
“Mate,” Eddie finished his sentence and grinned. “I heard.” He pulled Naomi into his arms and hugged her. “Sorry we didn’t get a chance to talk the other day in the conference room. Welcome to the family.”
“Thank you, Eddie,” Naomi replied.
When he released her, Thomas emerged from the crowd, and made a beeline for them.
“This is my mate, Thomas,” Eddie said.
Thomas slapped his hand on Damian’s shoulder, before he hugged Naomi briefly. “Damian sure has an eye for beautiful women.”
Pride filled Damian’s chest.
“And jewelry,” Eddie added and took Naomi’s hand to look more closely at her ring. “A perfect match to your eyes. It looks great on you, Naomi.”
Naomi beamed. “Thank you.”
Damian met her loving gaze. I love you.
“Do you have the feeling we’re the third wheel?” Thomas asked with a look at Eddie.
“Reminds me of how my sister and Amaury look at each other,” Eddie said with a smirk. “Like father like son.”
Damian rolled his eyes. “Trust me, you two aren’t any better at hiding your feelings.”
“Fair point,” Thomas said dryly. Then he changed the subject. “Have you spoken to Maya yet?”
“No.” A sense of dread surfaced. “Don’t tell me Ralph isn’t doing well.”
