“You told me you were out of town last night,” the naked girl said in a shrill voice.
“I hate you! I hate you!” Naomi spat.
Damian stared at her, looking utterly confused now. “Hey, who the—”
Naomi spun around and slammed the door shut behind her. She ran to the elevator, but the door wasn’t opening. She punched the call button, but she couldn’t wait for it. She had to get out of here. Agitated, she ripped the door next to the elevator open and ran into the stairwell. She raced down until she reached the foyer of the building. Tears were streaming down her face now, and her vision blurred.
How could Damian do this to her? And with a girl with a model figure and model looks. Apparently fucking a fat chick had gotten old very quickly. Her heart clenched painfully, and in that moment, she realized with horror that she was in love with Damian. And he’d betrayed her.
She charged out of the building without looking back. She wished she’d never met him, because then her heart would still be intact. Not shattered into a thousand pieces like it was now.

Damian got into his Porsche, and Cooper got in on the passenger side.
“That was a bust,” he said and started the engine.
“Wish Gabriel had been able to read more of that license plate so we wouldn’t have to waste our time,” Cooper commented.
“Can’t be helped. At least we’ve got something to chase down. Without him and without Naomi leading us to Mrs. Zhang, we wouldn’t have any leads at all. Where to next?”
Cooper looked at his cell phone. “Lower Pacific Heights.”
“Okay,” Damian said when his cell phone suddenly rang over the car’s speakers. He looked at the dashboard, where he saw who was calling, and pressed the answer button on his steering wheel. “Hey, Bro. You still in L.A.?”
“Nope, I got back a few hours ago,” Benjamin replied.
“Hey, Benjamin,” Cooper said.
“Hi, Coop.”
“We could use your help,” Damian said. “We’re chasing down some leads on the thief who stole the crate of bottled blood.”
“Yeah, I heard about that, but that’s not why I’m calling.” He cleared his throat. “You wouldn’t by any chance be fucking a blond chick with boobs like Dolly Parton’s?”
“That’s my girlfriend you’re talking about. So be careful what you say,” Damian replied.
“Well, then you’ve got a little problem. I’ve been trying to call you for the last hour.”
“Had to go stealth. Phone was on silent. What’s the problem?”
“She showed up here.”
“Naomi? That’s not a problem. She knows what we are. Just tell her to make herself comfortable. But I’ll still be a few hours.”
“Yeah, can’t do that. She ran off, crying.”
“What?” Damian’s heart beat into his throat. “What the fuck did you do to her? I swear if you touched her—”
“I didn’t,” Benjamin interrupted. “I was too busy fucking a girl I met at the Halloween party. And Naomi barged in and saw us. By the time I realized she was thinking I was you, she was already gone.”
“Ah, fuck!” Damian slammed his hands on the steering wheel. “Fuck, fuck, fuck!”
“Yeah, and the girl I was fucking wanted to hightail it outta here when she thought I lied to her about being out of town last night. She thought I was fucking Naomi last night, until I explained to her that I have a twin. She’s taking a shower now, but we’ve gotta fix this, or neither you nor I are getting laid. And I wasn’t done.”
That was the least of Damian’s problems. He made an illegal U-turn. “Tell her to calm down. I’m on my way to Naomi’s. When I get there, I’ll call you.”
“Yeah, hurry.”
