Before she could even blink, Damian was ripping her top in two, and jerked it off her body. But that didn’t get rid of all the blood on her, because some of it had soaked her bra, and clung to her breasts.

“Fuck!” Damian cursed.

Their gazes collided, and in that instant, she knew that she’d never be able to resist him. She was doomed.

The next thing she felt was Damian dipping his head to her breasts. He licked her skin clean of the blood, and all she could do was stand there, paralyzed. Feeling his warm tongue on her skin as he licked her breasts through her bra, catapulted her back to earlier in the night when they’d had sex in her flat… when she’d sucked his cock. The cock of a vampire. Was she so depraved that even now she couldn’t find it in her to regret what she’d done? To regret that she’d enjoyed being with him?

“Damian,” she murmured, suddenly breathless. “We’ve gotta stop. We can’t just…” But the next words eluded her.

He finally lifted his head from her breasts, and she noticed blood on his lips. Fuck, why did she find that sight so erotic? She should be disgusted.

“Naomi, will you please give me a chance to explain everything? There’s so much I need to tell you. About me, my family, the way I live. Can you grant me that? I promise I won’t hurt you.” His eyes were blue now. And he looked entirely human again.

Slowly, she nodded. “All right. We’ll talk.” And afterwards? Once she knew everything, what would she do? She had no idea how she would react. Her head was spinning.

“Thank you.” He gestured to her bra. “Why don’t I give you a T-shirt so you’ll feel more comfortable?”

After Naomi slipped into one of his T-shirts, Damian felt a moment of relief. He’d been close to biting her again, the smell of human blood mixing with that of her tempting skin was too intoxicating. But he’d managed to restrain himself, and had licked only the bottled blood off her skin, before releasing her.

When he sat down on the large sectional sofa in the living area, Naomi took the armchair that stood the farthest away from him. They were alone. Benjamin was on a 36-hour assignment protecting a client during a business trip to Los Angeles, so they wouldn’t be disturbed tonight. He had all the time in the world to tell Naomi about himself.

Actually showing her his vampire side hadn’t been the first thing on the agenda. He’d hoped to leave that for last, but what was done was done. The cat was out of the bag, and there was no way of shoving it back in. He might as well run with it.

“This wasn’t how I was planning to tell you.” He shrugged. “But now you know, and it’s important that I tell you everything about me, my family, and Scanguards.”

“And the bottled blood I found,” she added.

“That too. But let me start by telling you about us, about the vampires. I wasn’t turned into a vampire. I was born a vampire hybrid. You’ve seen my father and my mother earlier at the party and commented how young they look. They don’t age, just like I won’t age anymore either.”

Naomi stared at him with wide eyes. “Are you saying your parents are vampires? And vampires can have children?”

“Only my father is a vampire. My mother, Nina, is human.”

Naomi instantly shook her head. “That can’t be. She looks even younger than your father. And you’re what? Thirty?”

“Thirty-one.”

“She can’t possibly be human.”

“Don’t tell her that I told you, but she’s in her late fifties.”

Naomi gasped.

“And the reason she doesn’t age is because she’s blood-bonded to my father. He shares his immortality with her through his blood. She drinks his blood.”

“That’s ludicrous. What you’re really saying is that he’s turned her into a vampire, otherwise why would she drink his blood?”

He understood why Naomi had a hard time understanding what a blood-bond entailed. “You’re probably thinking that a human drinking vampire blood turns into a vampire, like the movies suggest. That’s not actually the case. Only when a human is on the brink of death, can vampire blood turn the human into a vampire.”

“So she’s still human, but then why on earth would she drink his blood?”

Damian had to smile. “Because drinking his blood arouses her, and it strengthens the bond they have. Their connection is closer than that of any normal couple. And by blood-bonding with her, my father made himself entirely dependent on her.”

“What do you mean?” Curiosity flickered in Naomi’s eyes.

“Since blood-bonding, my father can only drink my mother’s blood for nourishment.” He motioned to the fridge. “If he drank the bottled human blood many of us drink, he’d get sick and eventually die.”
