She hesitated. Did he really mean for her to stay? “You want me to stay?”
“I do.” He pushed a strand of hair out of her face. “’Cause I’ll enjoy falling asleep with you in my arms.”
She smiled and snuggled against him.
“I hope that means yes.”
“Yes,” she murmured into his ear. “But what if I wake up and want more?”
He chuckled. “Then you’ll just have to take what you want. I won’t complain.”
“I might just do that.” Because she was getting slowly but surely addicted to Damian and the way he made her feel.

Damian stirred and reached his arm out to pull Naomi closer to him, but she wasn’t next to him anymore. His eyes shot open. He was alone in the secret room behind the manager’s office in the Mezzanine. He looked toward the open door to the bathroom, but it was empty too. When he looked at the door leading into the office, he noticed that it was unlocked, but closed. He looked at the clock: it was shortly past five a.m.
He jumped out of bed, pulled on his boxer briefs, and went into the office, hoping that Naomi had gotten up to get something to drink from the fridge, but the office was empty too. Her red cape was gone. Naomi had left, and from what he could see, she hadn’t left him a note with her phone number. Why would she leave without giving him a means to contact her? Surely, she’d enjoyed their night together just as much as he. Didn’t she want a repeat of the same? He did.
Fuck!
Disappointed, he went back into the secret room. In the shower, he recalled how compatible they’d been in bed, how perfect their lovemaking had been. He’d been insatiable, and as a result, he’d fucked her again when he’d woken sometime after two a.m., and Naomi had been a more than willing participant. But despite his vampire stamina and endurance, even he needed a little sleep after the marathon sex they’d had, and he’d slept so deeply that he hadn’t heard Naomi leave the bed.
But he wasn’t giving up that easily. He’d find her.
Damian finished his shower and got dressed, then went back to the office and took his cell phone from his pants pocket. He sat down behind the desk and dialed his uncle’s number. Since it was still dark, Eddie would be at Scanguards HQ in the Mission.
“Hey, Damian, what’s up?” Eddie answered cheerfully.
“Hey, Eddie, you have a minute to make an inquiry for me?”
“Sure, what do you need?”
“I need you to find a girl for me.”
Eddie chuckled, and Damian could hear a second voice in the background. Apparently, Thomas, Eddie’s blood-bonded mate, was with him. Not a surprise. The two were inseparable.
“I don’t think you need me to find a girl for you. I wouldn’t know where to start.”
Damian let out a frustrated sigh. He loved his uncle, but right now he wasn’t in the mood for his jokes. “What I meant to say is that I met a woman last night, and now she’s gone, and all I have is her first name. Naomi.”
“Why didn’t you say so in the first place?” Eddie asked, his voice still laced with humor.
“Can you hack into the DMV and see if you can find her?”
“You know we don’t need to hack the DMV anymore, right? The governor gave us access.”
“Well, good, then can you please do it now. It’s important.”
Damian heard the clacking of a keyboard. “Okay, first name: Naomi. Can you describe her?”
“She’s beautiful, a size 12 and 36DD, and—”
“I meant height, weight, hair color, eye color, not her bra size,” Eddie interrupted.
Fuck! What was he thinking? Clearly, he wasn’t. “Sorry, uhm, blond hair, blue eyes, about five foot five, between 160 and 170 pounds.”
“Ah, a chubby one,” Eddie commented.
