Gauge

This girl was going to be the death of me. She thought she was alone, and I tried not to watch her. I should be giving her privacy—I tried. Day after day I tried not to watch her, but day after day, I failed.

She was too tempting to look away from. With the way she came right on schedule every day, she was almost as reliable as a train. Some days she was quicker than others, but most of the time she came right as I burst from the tunnel.

I knew she thought she was alone, but it was hard not to feel like she was performing just for me.

Every day, the temptation to introduce myself grew stronger, but I shouldn't. Nothing about me was normal. She wouldn't want me. I told myself that every day. If I did meet her, things wouldn't go well. Despite being sure of this, I could feel my resolve weakening. I was miserable.

I wasn't being discrete about my feelings, either. Jamie had definitely noticed something was different. I wasn't sure if Rosie had yet, but since Jamie didn't keep their mouth shut, it wouldn't be long before Rosie knew.

I loved them both and knew how deeply they loved me. Neither would care that I was interested in someone else, but I didn't want them to learn I was hurting because of it. I was going to have to do a better job at hiding it.

Chapter Three

Rosie

"Don't repeat this, but I'm worried about Gauge," I told Jamie. Jamie wasn't good at keeping secrets, but they were better at reading people than I was. I also knew if I asked Gauge what was bothering him, I wouldn't get a straight answer.

"How come?" Jamie asked.

"He's been taking more shifts than usual, working too hard and hasn't been all that interested in playing around."

"I wouldn't worry about that too much. I think someone's got his engine going."

"Someone… like a passenger?" I asked.

Jamie nodded. "Seems like it. He's giving off sexually frustrated vibes, which is weird as scrapyard ‘cause he's been less interested with us lately. There's gotta be someone that's caught his eye."

"You think?"

"I'd bet on it."

"Really? Maybe I should go check out the situation tomorrow."

"What are you gonna do?"

"What else? Meddle, obviously. If there is a person, I wanna see if they're receptive."

"Meaning...?"

"Have to make sure they'd fit in."

"He's going to be pissed," Jamie said, chuckling.

Chapter Four

Gauge

I had never given my passengers much thought before her, but she occupied my every waking thought. She was different; even though I knew it was a terrible idea, I wanted to meet her.

Against my better judgment, I felt hope creeping in. The pull to her was so strong I couldn't imagine it was one-sided. I wanted her. Her near daily self-pleasuring with my train was torture. I wanted to feel her coming undone around me, wanted to hear her crying out for me.

But today wouldn't be the day. I would have to catch her when I wasn't working, since it wasn't possible for me to talk to her on the job.

I was going to have to start riding the rails off shift, take Jamie or Rosie's trains, and see if she showed up. I both hoped and feared that she would. The thought that she could be riding other rails, pleasuring herself on other trains like she did on mine, drove me half crazy. She didn't know about me or how faithfully I watched her, but it still felt like something special she did only for me.

I didn't want to believe she was putting on a show for just anyone. Of course, I could ask Jamie or Rosie, but that felt like a violation of my girl's trust. It felt like this was almost a secret game between the two of us; telling the others, asking about her, felt like betraying that.
